So ive got a 1995 3.4 V6 as my daily runner that is also fitted with LPG
it seems to absolutely drink fuel lately....ive worked out im getting around 18-22 MPG i know it should be getting into the 30s on a run.
Does anyone have any advice on what sensors might be at fault? a couple of suggestions ive had is the temprature sensor that tells the ECU weather the engines hot or cold, that it might be saying its cold all the time so its always like running on choke.

Any help would be much appriciated

Do you have a scan tool by any chance? If not, then on ebay you can get them for about £15 or you can also get an OBD2 to bluetooth devices, under £10 and then use an app called Torque (free), the bluetooth adapter sends data via bluetooth to your module.

I mention the bluetooth device because it can pull codes but also show live data i.e. you can get it to show you what the ECU is seeing in terms of coolant temp etc. Scantool / bluetooth OBD2 will help you focus in pretty quickly on what it will be. My initial thought would be 02 sensor / MAF sensor / coolant sensor, as they affect (amongst others) how much fuel is added in. If 02 sensor for example is seeing a lean condition, it will be adding extra fuel in that case.

Hope that helps?

Cheers,

Ray

I remember reading somewhere LPG does use a a little fuel than petrol but n idea what's reasonable... 20 ish around town probably isn't too far off in reality..

Hi. Get an OBD tool, look at this site: http://shbox.com/1/how_tos.html. Get the codes. Short runs 4 miles to work in my 5.7 get 16. Try on a long run and see if it's better? I get about 27 if I do a 50 mile+ run ... more than my Omega!

Hi
I have the LS1 Z28 and the figures are similar 28+ mpg on long runs and 18-20 on short-shopping hops.

Sure, I have been through to the south of France and the overall figure was 28mpg. :D Would have been very unlikely to have done a journey that long if I'd got the kind of figures you're getting.

Some while back I had the 4.3 V6 in a Chevy Blazer and on a good long run I might get 21-22mpg, but around town it was around 14mpg.

Aw man :( might have to go looking for a v8 then. Unfortunately you dont see many on lpg which is what makes me v6 so usable. I wonder if i could swap the kit over

My v8 does about 18-20 but I tend to use my right foot a lot and it's usually short journeys
