and it wont go down!!!

yeh anyway its stuck right to the top on my third gen
ive heard if you disconect it from the tank, if it still doesnt go down, you 'short it out' and that fixes it
how do i do that?

Location:Watford
Get under the car and where the loom from the tank goes into the car which is where the rear seat is, unplug the connector and clean it and plug it back in and see if that helps first.

the symptom you describe : turning the key on causes the fuel gauge to peg out (max reading).
the wire going from the gauge all the way to the tank sending unit has an open in it (break).
the other posibility is the sending unit has lost its ground ,this is the same symptom as the ground to the sender completes the circuit to be read at the gauge.
