I am sure that like many CCCUK members we religiously separate bottles, plastic, cardboard and newspapers etc and make a trip to the Dump to drop off same (hopefully combined with some other journey to save fuel ) all to do our bit for recycling- and we feel good about reducing landfill with plastic that would otherwise take aons to biodegrade. And you can buy dog beds made of recycled plastic!

Don't you feel good about that as well?

The problem is that we are making very little difference. Just driving around Marrakech (nicknamed Bombey of N Africa) brought it all home.
SO MANy People so much rubbish , so much chaos so little recycling - made me think how pathetic our efforts are in the overall scheme of things.

You`re doing what YOU can, thats the main thing. Consumption and waste will only increase worldwide. When fossill fuels run out is when suddenly a lot of new developments will appear. The only reason the government want you to recycle is because they can sell metal, paper and plastic and dont have to spend as much on landfill. The only reason they wan`t to reduce fuel consumption is because the middle east have got us by the nuts with there supply of oil.

Its funny how frugal people are in west europe, even auto boxes aren`t popular. The yanks are the opposite with every extra crammed into cars.

Hi Guys,

Must admit my recycling goes up this time of year, if it will burn it gets recycled into heat via my multi fuel burner.

Cheers.

Russ.
