I'm sure i'll regret this but here goes. Up for sale is my 1993 Camaro 5.7 Z28 Hard Top Coupe 6 Speed Manual. This is the first of the 4th Generation Camaro, which if you are reading this then i'm sure you know all about. It has been in the country since it was 6 months old (imported from Canada). Basic Spec is as follows;
3 Door Coupe Hard Top
5.7 V8 LT1 Engine
280 BHP Approx (maybe more with exhaust system)
6 Speed Manual Gearbox
ABS
Cruise Control
Electric Drivers Seat
Electric Windows
Remote Locking
6 CD Changer
BOSE Sound System
Power Steering
Flowmaster Exhaust (I don't think its too loud but my neighbours might tell you otherwise!!)
I bought the car 2 years ago with 76,000 miles on the clock, it now has 81,000. I've used it regularly but always taken it off the road for winter. Since buying the car i've had the following work done;
- 2010 New EBC Front discs (drilled and grooved)
- 2010 EBC Yellow Stuff Pads all round (massive improvement)
- 2010 Corvette C5 Alloys, 18" Rears, 17" Fronts. 4 Matching Goodyear tyres. Again a huge improvement in grip and steering response.
- 2010 K&N Replacement air filter element
- 2011 New Clutch (genuine part)
- 2011 New window motors (not fitted yet. The current ones work but are sluggish)
I've also just had the gearbox oil changed and a service and MoT. There is about 4 months tax remaining.
As you can see i've not skimped on maintenance. Just before I bought the car it had a new heater matrix, new spark plugs and a new Optispark.
I looked for a good while before buying this car. I specifically wanted a 6 Speed Manual Z28 (is there really any point in buying a V6 muscle car). I also preferred the hard top models because the T-tops can squeak and leak, They also make the body less stiff.
The car drives great and always brings a smile to my face. It sounds fantastic and with the couple of changes i've made its a huge improvement from when I bought it.
In terms of running costs its no worse than a 5 Series BMW. On mixed driving you can get up to 20MPG if your sensible, which you won't be. On a long run i've had 32mpg with the cruise control on. It revs at 2000 RPM at 70 so is totally un stressed. Insurance is about £280 for the year (i'm 27 with 3 points). Road tax is the same as a 1.6 Escort.
All in all a fantastic car that i've really enjoyed owning (I usually keep cars 6 months at the most so this is a record for me!!).
I'm looking for £4999 for the car, I would consider a p/x, let me know what you have
