Hi guys iam busy filing out grooves to allow the conrod to clear the block there was a small gap anyway but ive been told 1.5 mm min does that sound enough? any road while i can easily see the rod/block clearance i cant see how close the bolt head/shoulder gets to the cam lobe, for peace of mind should i grind a bit off the shoulder? Allso iam experiencing a little doubt as to whether i got the timming marks aligned right to start with, seen so many conflicting ways on the net now i doubt my own judgement. I put crank spot at 12 oclock and cam spot at 6 oclock with number 1 piston at top dead centre is that right? Cant believe ive done this before and now forgotton it all. thanks Ant.

Nige thanks a lot mate, lots of useful information, must say as i filed away i was getting a bit nervous but now seeing the pics i know ive done it right.
Re balancing, yep will have it all done for sure got one quote for £250!! local... ex rolls royce man but thats a shade steep for my liking. Another for around £100 not so local in Lutterworth, but heavy metal raises the price.
Bit concerned as the crank touches one of the piston skirts at tdc thought the crank would have been machined equally will rub a little of each piston to aid the balance. Thanks once again Nige. cheers Ant.
