Afternoon!

Excuse the complete ignorance, but what does the "translock" red rocker switch do under the hood?

Also, what position should it be in for normal driving? Id imagine it is something to do with the LSD, snow and ice etc but couldnt find owt online or in the manual. It has been in the closed position since I got the car.

Cheers,

its not a switch, it the dip stick for the trans. Pushed down is sealed. Pull it up to unlock it and the pull it out to check temp. Your handbook should tell you how to check trans fluid too :D

You should be able to see it in my sig pic below about the strut brace

Haha!

Completely misread that one then! I suppose it was the "LOCK" element that confused me.

Cheers, I'll pull it out and check the oil.

Classic, comlpetely ignorant.

yeah, i can understand though. It 'trans' for trans oil, then it says 'lock' to lock it down. But together can be quite missleading :D

make sure the oil is warm and you run it through the gears and hold it in each for 10 sec running down to 1st then back up to park. Leave it in park with engine running when you check it. Obviously on as flat a surface as you can
