I was intending to get a basic roll cage fitted for a little while now, for 2 main reasons:
The safety element- I'm doing a fair few track days now, and driving at quite some speed sometimes, and having a close shave with a truck in Switzerland on the San Bernadino pass last September made my mind up
Handling - The 2nd gen body has quite a bit of twist when you start stiffening the suspension, even with subframe connectors, I'm aware of it, so anything to improve the handling is useful.

I'm really pleased with how it came out, and it's certainly welded in very solidly, joining front subrame/sill with the rear frame right at the back, and providing very substantial side door protection. Getting in and out is slightly more awkward, and the rear seats are hard to access, but that's the only price to pay.

I also had some G braces made up by the chap that built the cage, as again I was intending on getting these for a while to help stiffen the front end.
The US made ones often don't fit and the decision to have them made was part of this, and also the mounting position of mine adds even more strength than the standard ones available.

Even on the road the car feels a little more solid with a few less rattles, and turns in to sharp bends even more positively. I've got trackday booked at Snetterton on tuesday so that will be more of a test.

That looks very nice

I intend doing trackdays in my car, and I'm worried about chassis flex (especially as all the suspension has been modified in some way or other), so was considering a roll bar, and the possibility of a "G brace".

Are you subframe connectors the weld in type?

Mine are welded in. The bolt in ones can shift and elongate the mounting holes apparently, which is not ideal
