Well finally made it to the dyno on Sunday just with the help of Rocky @ AT and Watford MOT centre

A selection of cars, ranging from Chevy Stu's 2nd gen which made 430 and Mr auto pontiacs 77 trans am which made 385 or so. There was also a pretty prisitne 92/93 scoprt cossie which popped up a 523!!

I have been tempted and swayed from all corners to start modding my euro Z28 but have some how resisted powerwise so far until I got my first result..

So now I have some kind of baseline, I'll read up as to how close I am to stock figures (euro and US) with power/torque and afrs, then I can start to meddle.

Sounds like good starting numbers. Where was this in Watford? Is your Z28 automatic or manual? I'm looking for a better dyno shop other than the one I used. The guy who dyno'd my car put it on the wrong gear. Bollocks.

Hi Bene,

The rolling road was down in Surrey near the M3 and M25 junction, so thats quite a way from you?

My car is an auto and it was run up slowly in D to avoid kickdown.

The guys who run that rolling road seem very experienced and perform tuning on all sorts of crazy big power cars.

I wasn't sure what to expect for starting numbers as I have seen numbers from 285 to 310-315 for stock cars, then euro V8 cars having different exhaust configurations which affect performance fairly significantly etc.. I wouldn't mind getting some qtr mile times also to provide a benchmark for future mods.

Cheers

Dek

I've traveled as far as Bedfordshire/Bedford- LSV8 tuning, where the dyno shop who tuned my car last time so if it take that how many miles to dyno my car the right way, I will.

My tune is much less desired and I'd like to get another opinion or another set of eyes to have it looked at. Do they dyno tune cars as well?

What was the name of this place again?

Oh my car was an auto; it had full exhaust, LS6 intake/upgrade inj/lid and stalled auto, it dynoed 318 RWHP. Drove it to the track the next day and it ran 12.2 @ 110 w/ MT et street tires at the back.

Surrey Rolling road, this link is here: http://surreyrollingroad.co.uk/

I am not sure if they tune too, it's best to give them a call. I believe they own some ridiculously tuned cars between them so I would think that they would offer some good advice.

That's a healthy hike in power to rear wheels! I have started a list of bits I need to buy and sort, it will be interesting to see what effect it has on the cars performance.

Are the LS6 intakes fairly painless to source?

It shouldn't be. It isn't big and cumbersome to ship so I'd imagine anyone from the states would be willing to ship them here. I bought mine from a guy who was upgrading his intake to FAST, got them real cheap. intake/fuel rails/28.8 inj for $350 plus shipping.

yeah you need to get a run at the strip in dude :)

Bene thats some good going on the strip running 12.2, think the MT and stall helped that? The hub dyno I had said I put down 326 rwhp (think ill put up a post while everyone is putting dyno graphs up), held in third with my efilive so could just open up the throttle. That was with old 2.73 axle too. Got a 3.23 in now so need to figure out if I want to get some MTs or a cam next (about same money). I presume you got Mark at LsV8 to tune the car, usually he's pretty good? he did that tune on my pals monaro ls1 and it runs 13.3 afr (so pretty lean) but he got a good power improvement over no tune?

Either way, thats why im tuning mine myself, set up fueling to what I want, do MAF and VE calibration correctly then adjust timing accordingly

The MT helped a lot. My car just launched w/o any spin at all.

Yeah, Mark @ LSV8 tuned my car w/ AFR 12ish to 11ish and also dynoed the car on the wrong gear. That is why the numbers were so inconsistent, IMO. My PE tables were all jagged, my VE were all jagged, MAF tables were not smoothed, my idle was set to 950 and my car surge and bucks every now and then while going through stop and go traffic. This shouldn't be the case with such a small cam like mine. I asked for a retune and he would still charge me for a screwed up tune that should have been right to begin with. 500 quid for barely tuned for optimum performance, which is a load of bollocks!

I have sent his tune to a well respected tuner back in the states have stated that his tune is horrendous. He said that he pretty much copied his bolt on tune w/ only difference were bumping the numbers by 4-5 points.

Sorry that I hijacked your thread. I just want to warn you and others about Mark's tune on my car.
