Sorry to hear about the ECU :( Have you checked fuses etc.? ECU's are pretty solid, if they work after leaving the factory they should keep trucking as they're solid state electronics so pretty solid. It's mainly a big power surge that could damage them. What kind of symptons is the car seeing?

It's not running a standard system it's running a standalone megasquirt system. Coil fried, took out the ignition module which then shorted the 5v ref and fried some of the circuits in the ECU. It's currently being repair as we speak but won't have my bits till next week :(.

Any of you guys camping?

I'll probably be going through the Blackwall, it's the most direct route for me.
But after the horrendous hold-up there, going home, two years back, I may go home via the Dartford crossing.

This is all providing it's not raining, in which case I'll just go back to bed.

Hopefully see y'all there.

FYI an email went out just now, please note the entry time (no entry after 8:55):

Important information regarding SpeedFest parking:

Dear American car owner

SpeedFest is nearly with us, we’re all really looking forward to this weekend and sure with your help it will be the best one yet!

We have a slightly different process of entry this year and in light of recent serious events involving vehicles we are going to be very strict on entry times and process, I do hope you all understand this. On both Saturday and Sunday the gates will open from 7am and close at 8.55am. This is to ensure we do not have any vehicle movement when public have been allowed into the venue. If you arrive after this time I’m afraid you will not be granted access.

On arrival you will be directed to a holding area – please ensure you have your coloured mirror hanger in place and tickets ready. At this point your name and registration will be checked against our parking list and you will then proceed through to the entrance point where your tickets will be scanned (you can purchased any additional tickets here). Once through the entrance point, our marshals will place your vehicle in its allocated position and you are free to enjoy the show all day. Again, due to high volumes of public on site, we have a zero vehicle movement poilcy until the site is clear of the public – we anticipate this to be around 18:30, please do not move your vehicle before this unless instructed to do so by an official marshal. However on Sunday we do have the parade laps where the marshals will move you one area at a time into place – again please wait to be moved for this. You will exit the venue directly after the parade laps.

For Saturday can all display cars please access the venue via the main entrance point. On Sunday those with an orange mirror hanger, please access the venue via the Paddock entrance using Scratchers Lane. All other coloured hangers (on Sunday) access the venue via the main entrance.

We have over 1000 cars to get in on Sunday so we would really appreciate you arriving as early as possible. And please bear in mind many of our marshals are volunteers and will have been there very early in order to help get you in, happiness and politeness are always welcome.

We all look forward to seeing you this weekend.

Yes I got this too. Bit of a bugger as with a wife and 3 year old I wasn't planning on being there all day! :(

They just sent another email out saying they had a number of responses regarding the leaving time. They said that if needs be, a marshal can be contacted for escort out of the venue before 6:30. (I wonder what incident they refer to?).

Spoke with Phill yesterday and the 2 of us plan on leaving earlier now from Cobham. Feel free of course to stick to the original plan of 7:30 arrival at Cobham, leaving at approx 7:45. We decided we'd rather be there earlier as there will be more cars this year (1,000) and we don't want to risk wasting fuel and having a v8 get hotter and hotter idling away in traffic for ages. We plan on a quick pit stop at 7 at Cobham and leaving within 5-10 minutes. More than welcome to join, but also more than welcome to stick with the original plan.

I was gonna do Cobham... but any earlier than 7.30am and I'll die from lack of sleep....

I reckon it'll be fine.. as they let everyone in the queue in that were there for club stand from memory...

I'm still planning to be at Cobham for 07.30. I really am not too worried about getting in, they just say that to try avoid lots of late entries!

Well that was an enjoyable day!

Despite waking up to it having it rain in the night all over my nice clean car, the weather not only held but turned into a glorious day!

Met up with Stu, Ray and Phil at Cobham and travelled in convoy the rest of the way - with me lagging behind at the back thanks to my Britax roof ripping open :(

Loads of great cars, some colour racing and plenty of stands and kids entertainment.

Was nice to actually have a Classic Camaro car stand, complete with sign! I'll post some images once uploaded and shrank in size, but we had 4x 79, 1x 3rd generation, 2x 4th gen and 1x 6th gen.

Also, nice to meet up with some of you for the first time :)

Yeah, was a good bash. Nice to meet spanners and essexstu and their ladies, along with Ray, Stu, Phil, and the oddball family (have I missed anyone out?).
Ray, so, how was the parade lap, worth staying for?
I left around 3, the tail back at the Blackwall Tunnel was there again on the way home, but nowhere near as bad as two years ago.

So did the driver of the white 3rd gen materialise?

Who didn't show up? :naughty:

It was a great day and turnout, thanks everyone who was able to make it!
Good to meet everyone and put faces to usernames.
The parade lap was good - we ended up doing 3 in total which was cool and were last on the track so could go at our own pace. There was a Mustang infront of us with straight through pipes and he kept revving and revving which got old pretty fast. Another couple of Mustangs kept hanging back to do burnouts which quickly turned into fishtailing alongside a line full of cars, so there might some be changes in rules for next year.
