Part 60 on the illustration is what you're fiddling with.
Dash top off, left speaker out with it's support, then it's do
the best you can.
Got porky fingers like me....it's a battle, drop the switch and it's gone...
could be forever.

Hope you get to see the attachments.
Thanks for the graphics.

I was going to take the instrument cluster out and go in that way, is it easier taking the top off? I've got this little grabby tool, looks like one of those crane type things in fun fairs, looks like this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/600mm-24-Flex ... 1998777494,
I was going to hook it by the wires maybe so it doesn't fall away

Car Details:1986 Camaro, bought into Spain by me in 1993.
305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
There is no hand sized access from the cluster side, so I´d leave it in to save extra hassle
getting that back.
Just getting the speedo cable off and on gives me the nerves.....

Here´s a shot of mine with the cluster out, you can´t see all to the left but you can see the walls of plastic getting in your way.

YES!! Goddamit! Okay didn't need to take anything off but the cover behind the switch and fog light switch, if you twist the cover upwards you can see the button to release the stick - which was a sonofabitch to release. Once the stick is out you can get behind the complete switch and then hold it while you go for the broken remainder of the plastic nut with a screwdriver that just about fits in.

You can then turn it to get the broken nut out.

Once that's done there is just room to position the new nut into place with the tip of your finger and turn it to grip the thread, once it's in CAREFULLY turn till tight enough to hold. Then connect put the stick in the cover, carefully push it into place, connect up the wires to the fog light, replace cover and BINGO!

Okay now for that damn wet carpet :-)

You need the handbrake light to illuminate as its the fluid low lamp also.
