Thanks, looks like we arrived at very similar designs - here's mine.

And here's the new wiring harness. I left off the passenger side headlight plug until I'd run the wires through the bodywork (my battery and relays are on the drivers side).

The relays fitted perfectly on the stock relay bracket, there were even holes in the right places!

I got the alignment adjusted at an MOT station this morning but haven't driven in the dark yet.

Tried them out properly yesterday, in the dark. They're a massive improvement on the old sealed beams - they're brighter, they illuminate further up the road and the spread of light is more uniform. I'm using Osram Night Breaker Unlimited bulbs.

Great to hear of the improvement!

What is the model number for those? I didn't realise you had a 3rd gen Firebird. I have a the same and it has hilux headlights in there with normal take in and out bulbs and they are great. I remember driving with sealed beams and i think what that means is that they seal the beam into the unit and stop the photons from leaving as they don't do much illumination.

These are Hella 1LB 003 177-081 - one of the part numbers you posted back on page 1. The 1LB 003 177-511 is the same shape but also has a sidelight built in.

Re Firebirds, I think only the 91-92 models used this size (4"x6") and the older ones are 5"x7".
