Sounds good, you'll have to photograph it as you do it, to show others how it's done ;) ;) cheers.....Nige

I had a go at glueing the original fabric back on top of the underlay stuff and it turned out TERRIBLE !! :(

So I've just ripped it off and will buy some new material. I can't use the lovely black vinyl stuff I bought because I can't shape it into the recesses without making creases. £40 for a 1.5m2 piece of the stuff and it's no good to me.

I'm struggling to find ideas now. I used some super strong spray glue but it wasn't really that strong anyway. I'm starting to wonder about wallpaper paste or something similar but maybe more adhesive - just don't know what's available or best to use.

Anybody got some inspiration to share with me ?

you can buy proper upholstery adhesive to do the job, try contacting an upholsterer & see if they'll let you have some. The principle is that you spray/brush the glue onto both pieces & leave it until it's almost dry. Then & only then do you try to put the two parts together to be bonded. I would think that you only need to gklue around the edges, as the centre will pull taught to the headlining panel.
The vinyl you have should then stretch into place even in the tight corners. If it's not stretching as much as you'd like get the wifes hairdryer out & gently warm the part that you need to stretch & lo & behold it should go where you want it to. Patience is required, but if you slowly work through it & pull it into place bit by bit it should go ok, even where you have creases, as they will stretch & pull into shape hth, cheers........Nige
