I agree with regard to the replies in comparison to some of the US sites--but a vast majority of those are ridiculous as far as what they allow members to post. Lots of profanity, arguments and things completely un-related to the cars...I personally don't care of the mullet-wearing, toothless redneck in bumf-ck Tenessee has an issue with drunken "Cletus" in the backwoods of Kentucky...because they are probably related anyway-- so; this is most likely a family dispute, aired on a Camaro website. And if it IS a post about their cars, they are usually lying through what few teeth they have about what the car actually is. I figure if you folks have gone through all the trouble to obtain one of these cars in the UK, the correspondence is likely to be significantly more sincere..

Anyway, enough of that. Here's a few I took yesterday.

Ye, we're not the fastest bunch at replying but from what i gather we read more than we write, i.e listen more than talk, which i think is the right way round if you like to learn :) but that's just my opinion and maybe the other guys dont feel the same, but that's why i like this forum - everyones decent (so far) and there is minimal bragging - just enough though for a good chuckle.

You're right - it's not easy owning one of these here and i get upset whenever i see a "breaking for parts" advert, that's why i post 'em when i see 'em so at least the most is made out of them. Parts are hard too, it's one thing finding the bit that fits, and then if it turns up and doesn't fit, well, there's no point getting a refund because it'll cost you more cash and time than it's worth getting it back over there. So ye, i think we're one of a few forums that are in it for the cars and not the people, and we are lucky to have great people on here.

So anyway, your car is looking awesome, best late 2nd gen project i've seen probably to date, great inspiration and thanks for sharing all the pics! we definitely love pics here as you know, keep them going and good to see that our American cousins are taking an interest in the UK Camaro world.

How to post pics: When writing a message, scroll down and use the "attach file" option. Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

Well, I'm only a few generations off of the boat from the UK anyway. My great grandparents were from your side of the "pond". Only place I've personally ever seen was Holy Loch when I was in the Navy (submarines)...and I never got to leave the base anyway, so that really doesn't count. This car has been a lengthy project. I'm sort of limited with the time I have to play with it. I've decided not to hurry anything like so many folks do. You get to a certain point and start cutting corners and that sort of thing. The only thing I'm guilty of so far in that regard is the brakes. This will ultimately be a track car and bigger is better when it comes to stopping. I've just gone with stock OEM stuff for now so I can have a rolling chassis--that's so I can send this thing to a race fabrication shop and have the cage installed. I can do lots of things--welding isn't one of them. I cant seem to locate the disk I have with all the tear-down, undercarriage prep & paint pictures, so I've taken a couple of the underside tonight along with the differential, which is going back on the car tomorrow.

If I can help you or anyone else in the forum with parts or other resources, please don't hesitate to ask. Just send me an e-mail to one of the following. Most of the aftermarket stuff is located right here in my area anyway. I have a frined who owns a wrecking yard. He can generally find anything I need--and the price is always cheap.

File comment:Undercarriage--paint used was made by "POR-15". The acronym means "Paint Over Rust". My car did not have rust issues, but over in the UK, this might be something worth looking into...

Can someone please tell me what the exchange rate is for US dollars to British Pounds (I'm easily confused as it is)? I hear guys in here talking about costs of parts, etc....but I have NO idea whatsoever what it equates to in US dollars.

Wow, that's certainly a thorough job. That under side is super clean and shiney for an old car.. I don't think I have the patience to wait so long for the thing to come together, I just want to drive it all the time.. I'm struggling trying the time I'm prepared to take mine off the road to do a few rear end related jobs..
Regarding brakes, definately get the biggest you can, the standard ones will overheat, whatever pads/discs you use. I've got the C5 vette brakes up front which work very well for the money.

The POR 15 is well known over here, lots of car rebuilders use it, as it's good stuff.. That TA rear end cover looks the part and very popular now going by cars I've seen.

US dollar to pound rate is 0.62, so around two thirds. The killer for us is the shipping cost and import duty of 10% and VAT (sales tax) of 20% on the total including shipping. Most companies have a habit of adding 'handling' charges too.
For example my rear adjustable sway bar that costs $289, actually cost me £280 ($420) to actually get here..
