DB Motors - Martin 01858 880 171

Grumpy old bugger sells new bits, and has a US cars breakers yard. I bought a 'new' screen from him about 2 years ago. Turns out it was new old stock so 20 + years old. It starting delaminating within a few weeks of fitting and cracked from a small chip within a few weeks more.

I'd always fit a proper new one. Insurance were fine with mine, just paid the excess and never affected the premium, and most classic policies don't have a no claims bonus now.. I could have just been lucky.

Here's the guy to use, Peter Jones 01582 881260 or 07836208478. He carries them in stock & will deliver. I ordered a screen for my '69 & it arrived next day & was very well packaged & surrounded by expanding foam. When I was searching for a screen he was by far the cheapest. hth

cheers....Nige

I think it's more the massive amount of injury claims and funds insurers have to put in the pot to cover claims against un-insured drivers that drive up insurance premiums...
I actually did some sums about 3 years ago and worked out across all the cars I've ever insured I'd paid nearly £30,000 in premiums and only ever claimed around £500...

I actually did buy a new (old stock) screen and paid to have it fitted, only to then have a chip on the M25 a few weeks later and then cracked big time within another week or two, hence my comments above about old screens delaminating, which was part of my problem as it was weakened. I did then claim a new one on insurance, which I felt was justified.
