I think my engine might be over carbed a little!
750CFM for a 305 standard engine other than headers....
Might explain why its not running that great.
Would you kind gents cast your eye over these pics and tell me if anything looks wrong please? I know the vac advance and kickdown cable aren't hooked up but they are on my to do list.
The car has had quite a lot of work done over the years, not all of it to my standard, so there is a lot to do. There is an electric fan fitted infront of the rad, so I am going to take the finger mincer off the front of the engine....
I am not sure if there is any choke fitted, there is no large flap over the primarys, but there are smaller ones in the secondary bores about half way down which dont open when the throttle is opened. I wonder if these are staying shut and stopping the secondaries opening up properly which is causing the bogging down issues? I can't see anywhere that a choke cable would go and I don't know how the auto choke would have originally worked?
What is a vac line from the front of the carb that loops down and goes down the side of the engine? I can't see where it is attached if at all at the other end.
There is also a large vac take off in the back of the carb which has been blanked off with a bolt.
Thanks,
David
