Its my only car, so I have to run it as I am doing the fixes. But I use my bike 95% of the time anyway and really only have to use a car if we need to go shopping, otherwise its just for fun.

The respray isn't that great to be fair, but most of it will flat back and polish up. But I may well run it as it is.

My pockets aren't very deep, but I can do most stuff myself including welding, bodywork and spraying if need be. So really its just the cost of parts as needed. The car was a really good price, so thats also left me a bit extra to do some bits to it as well.

First things to do are sort the door seals, check the underside out properly and the running problems and then go from there.

Car Details:hi i have had my 70 z28 for bowt 5years now when i got it it needed a full resto an now am finaly geting to the end just have a few more bits to find and i cant wait till shes dne.

hi mate looks a tidy motor any advice you need just ask as i also have come across most of these problems to and the pipe on the drivers side under the carpet if you trace it back its the wireing for the boot its just in a plastic pipe thanks shaun.

Bet you must be pleased with it! not a bad list there, end of the day, guy before you drove it so can't be tooo bad :thumbup:

May be able to help you with door seals as i bought new ones but the existing ones were relatively good so i'll check the condition when i have a chance, maybe help save a few pennies.

Thanks, yeah its driveable, just not hard as it just pinks/knocks. Will check the ignition timing tonight, it may just be a mile out.

Overall I am pretty pleased with it :) Plenty to do on it to bring it to my standards and the list of stuff is already twice as long as it was.

The paint job is pretty bad, its basically straight out of the gun so needs cutting and polishing. I'll leave it a few months and see if anything surfaces from underneath before diong much with it though. All the arches look solid, sills are good, not bad around the rear window, but there is a bit of rust showing inside so might have to have the window out at some point.

Front screen also needs replacing as it has some cracks, but I'll leave that until I have done the bonnet hinges just in case I have a mishap :roll:

I might get a chance to grab some more photos tonight.

If you could let me know if you have spare door seals ASAP I would appreciate it as I was going to order some today :) That said, all the seals need doing, roofline and door seals and the trunk seal too.

Right a little bit of progress made on the running problems.

I dont think the previous owner knew how to work a timing light...anyone think 30deg idle advance is a bit much? :lol:

Whacked it down to 4 just to prove a point, no knocks but virtually undriveable. Back up to 14, too much slight knock under acceleration at low rpm. Now its sitting at 10 deg and i think its still just a little high, I think there is still just a hint of pinking. Picks up well now though all the way through the rev range under all throttle openings.

Might tweak it down to 8 deg at a later date and settle there.

The bolt on timing thing reads about 2 deg lower than my strobe with an adjustable dial. Not sure which is right, but I am sticking with my strobe to be consistent.

It still bogs occasionally when you push your foot to the floor, though it feels like an overfuel on the accelerator pump rather than lean.

Would like to try a smaller carb, not only to improve MPG but also to see if it runs better :)

Just been and picked up most of a 350 engine. 1969 block, bored +030". No heads, but virtually everything else is there inluding a couple of cams, Edelbrock inlet manifold, MSD electronic dizzy and a myriad of other bits :D
