Oh that is a good idea actually!! i have also learnt that doing anything destructive is a big no so you should always work with what you have, to come up with a better solution, i think it also leads to a more professional finish that way. you are right about the wedge style bulbs - T10 are only 5watt so not enough. i have found some regular bulbs that are indicator replacements and go right up to 30LEDs per bulb and are classed as road legal, these fit the standard bayonet fitting at the front and rear of the car.

I am now thinking maybe to reverse the priority - make the reverse lens the indicator in terms of adapting the wiring and using the coloured bulbs. This was you just need to figure out the reverse lights which arent an MOT requirement so COULD be the LED T10 style bulbs so at least there is something there. You could always install a fog light style reverse light sat opposite the fog light under the bumper? i was thinking of doing the mustang eleanor style reverse lights at one point they sit way down in the bumpers and look pretty hot.

My reverse lights are converted to indicators, as before certain years you don't need em'. Was consdiring adding one though as it can be a pain reversing into a space when the idiot behind doesn't realise and is right up your backside..

I've got a spare set of rear lenses and was considering chopping the backs off to make to slick all LED units, rather just replace the bulbs..would match the fronts nicely as I've already got LED sidelights and HID headlights..

Car Details:hi i have had my 70 z28 for bowt 5years now when i got it it needed a full resto an now am finaly geting to the end just have a few more bits to find and i cant wait till shes dne.

Thanks Shaun :) I'll be getting started when i eventually haul my ass outa bed this morning :lol:

Stu, how did having LED sidelights affect the flasher relays? or do they work fine with because the impedence load is coming from having bulbs in he rear? Also, was the rear conversion a case of wire hacking, and do your brake lights flash too?

ok folks - embarrasing question - how do you get the driving light lenses off a 1970 RS? I removed the two screws (top and bottom of the lense) but the lense does not want to come off. I'm too scared of breaking the lense to try prying it out

I'm talking about the front lights. If the lenses are glued on how do you change the bulbs??
I have found these bulbs on the internet in the USA. Basically they replace a 2 filament bulb so you can have one colour on one "filament" and another colour on the other "filament". So I was thinking that I could simply replace the bulbs in the front driving lights - so it would show white on side lights and flash orange on indicators. At the rear I could put a twin filament bulb holder in the reversing light housing and wire it so operate in the same way.
Has anyone experiemnce of these bulbs?

PS I've ordered workshop manuals for the car as the Haynes Manual is a piece of S**t as usual - totally useless. So I think I will have to be patient and wait for them to arrive from the USA before I start attacking the car - I don't want to mess it up!

also if I can use those LED bulbs as per my previous msg I will simply replace the headlights with UK spec sealed beam units, atleast for now, so I can just get the MOT. I'll then see just how bad the standard untis are - I don't suppose I'll do that much night driving. I only replaced them on my Mustang because the bloody circuit breaker kept switching the original headlights off - not much fun when you are negotiating a country lane - so I put the relays in and took the opportunity to upgrade to halogen.
