I'm told you guys like pictures of naked Camaros. Anyhoo, it seems as though I can only add five photos at a time. I've got over 600 so far...that's a lot of posts, so stay tuned. These are some of the first I took during the actual reconstruction. I've got quite a few of what this "money pit" looked like during the tear-down phase. I used POR-15 paint on the interior floorpan, trunk, cowl, firewall and undercarriage. The paint, while expensive, went on fairly easily (I'll soon post some photos of that process). The most difficult part was the prep. This car was owned by a gal who just drove it till it dropped; transmission leaks, rear main leaks, power steering leaks and all. It then sat in her driveway beneath a palm tree for seven years. There were squirrels living in the engine compartment and A/C-Heat ducts. There must have been several thousand half-eaten date pits in the fenders. There were also several generations of Black Widow spiders in the various nooks & crannies. A heat gun works great on those... just point it in the suspected area until they drop out onto the ground--then terminate with "extreme predjudice". It's easier than bug spray, plus I have a couple of cats in the garage and my wife would be slightly upset if I killed them with insecticide...why isn't collateral damage acceptable anymore? The up-side was that all the fluids, grease and crap perfectly preserved the entire undercarriage. The down-side was removing it all so the paint would adhere. I was on my back on the garage floor for a week with degreaser, wire bushes, a boat-load of paper towels, etc. After that, I took it down to bare metal with sanders & wire wheel attachments. The end result was nothing less than amazing. We don't really have rust-issues here in southern California, with the exception of the beach cities, but one thing is for certain--this car will NEVER rust, no matter where it goes. Ok, I'm done for now. Everyone has to believe in something--I believe I'll have another beer.

Super clean shiney subframe.. Did you seam weld bits of it.. ?

I had it restored at Global West. Made sure the dimensions were correct and then they completely re-welded ALL of the factory welds. The finish is powder coating.

That subframe and firewall looking really good . Very jealous of the so-cal climate ,here in the UK our damp climate is our biggest enemy and rust is usually a major issue. Our 1st and 2nd gen cars need major body surgery more often than not and most scrapped went because of serious body rot...

Rust is definitely a problem with Gen -I & II F-bodies. Out here, anything from the southwestern states are quite sought after. Anything from the east coast or south-eastern states is usually junk unless it's been garaged. I bought this one for a song...$700.00. The only rust on this car was very minor. It was on the right side floorpan, just below the heater core, which had evidently leaked at some point. This was minimal surface rust, which I took care of with a sanding disk on my grinder. The worst part was the interior. This thing had baked in the sun for at least 7-years and all of the plastic panels, console, etc was almost powder... I wound up just discarding almost everything inside the car. These photos are early ones. As of tomorrow, the rear suspension & differential will be re-installed and it will again be a rolling chassis. A cage and subframe connectors will be next.

Man...tough crowd. Figured I'd post a few more pics. I'm slowly getting the hang of this site, though I'm mostly talking to myself it seems...but I do that anyway.

Hi keep up the good work, it will be a pleasure bolting all your new goodys to the front subframe ,and i susspect the rsend also keep the pics coming ,and stick with it their is a lot of people just like to take it all in and dont comment .But every one to thair own . :thumbup:Cheers Neil

Don't get discouraged ,because we are a small group here the traffic on the site tends to be slow ,it's not like some of the big sites with 10s of thousands viewing and where you get a big response.
Just remember there are a lot fewer of us here and because our boards move more slowly we all visit the site less often...hopefully with new in put like your car people will see more cool stuff they like and visit and comment more often. Thanks for sharing with us.

Ditto the above, not everyone feeds back. Then there are so few Camaro owners in the UK.

Not compared to the vast membership in the US.
