Hi
Im taking my 88 camaro to le mans this weekend for the 24 hour.
I think its chevys centenary year but the grid entry for the corvettes dosent look as big as it used to be!
Hope to see a few stateside motors in the sea of porches / ferraries.
Regards Al

went Le Mans long time ago in Camilla

had a blast

managed to get into sponsors' tent Moet et Chandon and met Derek Bell. He had been competing in his race Porsche 962 left the circuit after the race and Drove home in a 944 (with girlfriend) I couldn't believe it after all that driving concentration - after work he just drove home!!

have fun and please take plenty of pictures.

NB when Aston M were designing the GT2 race cars they said oh no it sounds like a chevy (they were owned by Ford at the time!) until someone pointed out - what is wrong with that??

!!

Good but not as good as it used to be !

Gone are the days of turning up finding a spot and camping.
(pre booked pitch and moved twice because the security couldnt read there own map).
The racing from a states perspective was exellent with 2 of the 3 vettes entered winning seperate catorgaries!
(the third crashed while leading)
Apart from the Aston's and a Ford the vette's were the only race cars that still sound good (the missus dyson is noiser than a diesel Audi).
The first time i went something called a Panoz made the ground shake !
Inevitably its dearer (67 euro) and with the better view points restricted to the increasing coporate crowd (nobs).
The motor took everything in its stride (dont go in underground secure hotel car parks) and was a treat to drive on a fantastic little adventure.
Regards Alan (few photo's to follow)
Any one going to chop n rod ?
