I tinted the primer as it gives a good base for the top coat colour to lay on, in this case red. The tinter was red as well, but once added to the primer it turns this gay, Barbie looking colour. By tinting the primer, the coverage of the top coat colour is better.
The lead isn't a pure lead as such, more of a lead/tin mix. It was the process that bodymen used to repair cars back in the days before bodyfiller was invented. It was used on all of the body seams to give a water proof seal on the joints, or to repair any accident or rust problems. I used it because I find it's a better way to repair something that I want to last indefinitely,without worrying about the repair shrinking, letting in moisture from behind, rusting again or cracking. I feel that it's just doing the best I can to repair it "correctly".
