How many of you guys are on Facebook?? do you find it useful in your daily lives?? The reason I ask this is because my wife says it'd be good for us to have an account, personally I don't think so, so what do you guys think??

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that I'm a bit of a dinosaur, as I just don't seem to "get" a lot of the stuff that's going on in the technological world these days. Take facebook for example, a good friend of mine was told by his wife the other day that she wanted a divorce. Within the hour, he'd posted up on his facebook page that he was single!! He didn't try to fix things with her first, that came afterwards, why?? Why is it sooooo important to tell the world what's happening in your life?? Why is so much inane crap pasted on facebook & the likes of twitter?? Why do people feel the need to tell every little personal detail of themselves to everyone else??

Here's another one, Apps!! I saw a bit of the apprentice the other day on TV where they had to design a new App for the phones market. One team made on that made stupid animal noises & the other team made one with people talking in stupid accents......what the fook is that all about?? Why would anyone with 2 brain cells want to buy this stuff??

I don't know if this facebook/twitter age is flittering down into normal everyday life too much, but I've now got "friends" who text me to tell me where they're going & what they're doing in their daily lives....Why?? I'm not interested if they're stuck in traffic on their way to the barbers, or taken an hour longer to eat their breakfast because the dog was sick!!

Is this just happening to me?? am I surrounded by boring people that have nothing better to do with their time?? am i turning this into a rant?? Mmmmm, am I as bad posting this stuff on a forum instead of working on my car in the garage??

all answers on a postcard please to............

What do you all reckon, is this just me or does it bother you?? Are you on facebook & is facebook worth the effort or not??

Thanks in anticipation

Nige

Hi Nige,

I agree with you 100%. I had a face book account for about a week. All these people from different countries whanted to be my 'friend' and like you said wanted to tell me thier life stories. I shut it down and haven't been on it since. A friend of my wife spends hours on it everyday looking after virtual animals WHY?????.

I don't see the point of it all. Emails are great, but for me that's it. All this other stuff must be for the younger generation.

Someone somewhere must be making alot of money out of it all.

Cheers Gerry

Hi

With you 100%. I don't use it but, I have noticed though that you see an increasing number of firms and organisations saying on their own web site "Keep up to date with us on Facebook". I have to go onto Facebook pages to keep up to date with biking events.

Yes I am on facebook- but hardly use it

everyone else has more fun using my page than me!

I am also on Linked-In and Plaxo- these are sort of business facebook things and are emant to help with business (not sure if they do)

I use facebook quite a bit, but it's more of a networking tool than social for me, and also it's a good way of setting up a contact/client base for quite a number of businesses I know.
