i have noticed a very small pool of liquid under the car were it's always kept.
I have been under the car and have found a sticky substance on the floor pan of the car either side of were the drive shaft connects to the rear diff. But i can't see anything dripping when the car is running.
I have been told that this could be the pinion seal leaking on the Diff, can anyone confirm this? and if so were would i be able to source one from?

Many thanks from Luke

Is this something i can do myself or would it be best to pay a garage to do it?, I have all the books, but iv'e never worked on any full sized cars, until i got my Camaro 7 months ago.
How much do you think it would cost at a garage?, if i supply the new seal.

Thanks from Luke

hi luke if i was you i would do it your self and save your self some money there not that hard just time consumeing as you need the prop off and the wheels off and you need a diff cover gasket.

Hi,

I rang Usautomotive yesturday to order the pinion seal and i asked about a diff cover seal, but he said that i dont need to open the diff cover. He said it's all done from the drive shaft side. Mine is a 77 and i think these axles were used from 73-79, if yours is a 70, is there any difference?

Thanks from Luke

hi ye i changed the diff oil that way and in the last msg i meant the wheels of the floor sorry ye when the cars jacked up take the prop off and were the props mounted to the diff in the centre of the yoke theres a bigish nut i forget what size it is take that out then the yoke should tap off and the seals in there let me know how you get on luke.

Just took the Camaro out to test it, after replacing the seal. All seems ok now, had no major problems changing it just took me a while.
Hope that's the end of it's problems for abit now, as i hope to enjoy driving it though my first Summer of owning the car.
