Does indeed look like a solid car...

(First job for the buyer should be to ditch those rear air-shocks though.. :roll: )

Ye that one you would have to keep as is, if its only a 2 owner car and has original miles, you would want to keep it as an example of what came out of the factory. Whats wrong with air shocks? I know that people frown at them, but i don't understand the difference and why they suck lol. I have them on mine, they seemed ok when i drove it, of course, it was only the one time though.

Air shocks are a crutch for worn or broken rear leaf springs, or just to jack the rear up..

The problem is they put the weight of the car onto the rear shock towers, and they were never designed for that kind of load. They also badly effect the handling and ride, especially when pumped up, making it bumpy and jumpy due to lack of proper damping.

I used to have them on mine too until I realised what they did. I pulled them off and put on some standard gas shocks, and the ride was much better but the rear was very low. When the springs were changed both sides had at least one leaf broken so I know why they fitted the air shocks..

Looks like they are coming off then! Mine had new leafs fitted not so long ago, you can see they are in good condition, so i guess it's a simple case of taking off the air shocks and swapping them out for gas shocks? What did you do about the ride height? Mine is sitting level at the moment, but the front does look quite high and there's a good 6" gap between the rear tyres and the arch. Did you have to work on the front too to get it even then? Cheers! (sorry for managing to turn this into a tech question!!)

Yep, rear shocks are quite easy to change. 2 bolts hold em in at the top, and one on the axle.. Monroes, Edelbrocks or something decent (not KYB) will be better than the airshocks...

I bought set of Hotchkis sport springs which lowered the rear about 1.5", but the fronts coils needed cutting down to match the new (very) low ride height of the rears.

Cheers, sounds easy enough then - famous last words! I'll do this once the car is on the road, can't take on any extra work for the car anymore :)

I did want to do a full coil over conversion at some point, but this is probably a while off so this may be a nice solution in the meanwhile.

Hi there,

It actually was mine purchase :D
Car Is in the middle of restoration process and it will take probably another 4-5 months to finish it.

Car will be totally rebuild, engine swap , new paint job , new interior.

Old 305 was in really bad shape so its gone now, an tuned up lt1 around 400bhp engine with TH700R4 tranny is already fitted.
