Car Details:i have a 1969 camaro 350 4 speed muncie m21, red with white stripes, z28 clone.
thanx m8, i bought the like it is in the pictures about 6 weeks ago, i have driven the car only a couple of times cause there is a slight oil leak on the gearbox so i dont want to risk running it low on oil, the car was originally a 6 cylinder car and was fitted with a 350 chevy 4 bolt mains and muncie m21 trans, i think the axle is standard as its 10bolt and spins one wheel, who done the work on the car im not 100% sure as of yet but i think it was an import specialist because the previous owner chose the colour for the car and he was the first owner on the log book and now i am the second (i will get some more info of the previous owner), i do know that it has had new wings and inner wings, new rear quarters and i think a new floor, its a very solid car and a good looker, all it needs now is some power to match looks.

thanx for the comments, i havent got round to sorting out the oil leak yet as iv got 3 other cars and not enough time so a bit at a time, just waiting for some better weather so i can get it out of the garage and have a play, im hoping to get it all done and try attending some shows later in the year.

I would suggest you try a posi lsd before spending money on a locker

Or at least try someone with a locker first (in the wet!)
I suspect you won't enjoy it!

I took a 65 Must####g round BH in the wet with a locker- it was dreadful!!

i dident think there was alot of difference, i just thought the locker was similar upgrade to posi.

do you know what the differences are??

The posi is far more progressive having clutches that ease in and out (you can tell I am not technical!) but a Locker is either out or locked causing the back end to grip and release on and off- I think they maybe work in straight lines?
It was fiendish in the wet on a corner- hence my bad experience at Brands in the wet

With a posi I can floor it with one wheel in a puddle one on dry- I don't fight it and the car just sorts it out- have a look at the weather in the Utube over the TT mountain road when I last took Butch out in the rain- and hear the revs used!
Camilla has a standard 10 bolt non posi axle and is very keen to spin the inside wheel on any corner or when exiting junctions.
I am sure that you can get 10 bolt posi units these days - you don't have to go for a 12 bolt

I agree with Tim, lockers do what it says on the can. My old '55 Chevy used to run a locker & was fine in a straight line & was useable on the street, but they don't like really tight turns, as the wheels are "fighting" each other, both trying to turn the same amount as each other, which as you know, can't really happen in a tight curve. Fit a posi & you won't have any worries on the street & it'll lock up on the strip if that's what you intend to do with the car occasionally.

Tim's right, in that you can get a posi for a 10 bolt, just make sure you fill it up with the correct oil & additive to lubricate the clutches hth
