Yes we have had lots of problems at UK circuits- esp Castle Combe

That is why I don't go there very often! No noise limits in South Africa

Mind you Bugatti OC at Prescott were quite happy in October when we were there!

Reading is about 120 dbls- I used to say that OK this is an old Yank v8 so 3/4 rpm is 4250 and 103 dbls
But of course this thing revs to well over 7000 rpm! Then I get pulled on the circuit!

It is strange that you can have a louder street car than a race car!
Castle Combe is notoriously tough on noise, I did a charity drive there earlier this year there, and I got away with it as there were no noise tests and only a few cars on track at a time.. (and it was for charidee... )

The noise regs at circuits is really killing the fun, as so many cars have to run with restrictive add-on silencers. It's the Euro human-rights 'entitlement to peace and quiet' thing that's the problem.
Apparently it's not unusual for someone, or developers to buy a cheap property near a race circuit, and kick up a fuss about noise, and thus circuit having to reduce the number of meets a year, and introduce trackday noise limits, and hey presto - property value goes up !!!! :x

I usually tell em' mine only revs to 5500 so get static tested at about 3500, just before it gets noisy, lift off a little when passing drive-by meters and all's good..

SA sounds better with no limits.. !!

Dear EvilZee
Love to reveal all about rebuilt engine-- but cannot in such a public place! I know that the Minshaws (Demon Tweeks) are bringing their 64 Chev Malibu ex ICS car to South Africa- which I believe to have 630 bhp

we will be racing in same event- so let us see what happens- as they say the bullshit stops when the flag drops!!!

Suffice to say that old engine was 540 bhp- rebuild is more...................and that is what you are hearing in this clip

all on pump gas
Frank "Amadeus" is doing a great job on the Sky tv programme featuring- you guessed it Butch vs. Sarel Van der Swerve in 2009 last time out (he has an 8.3 litre 1964 Ford Galaxie- hopefully will post up when done.

This was taken last year just before it went to the garage. The exhaust on there comprises the standard log style manifold, into standard downpipes, into twin cats (true dual system) and into 2x cherry, bombs, all 2" from the downpipes.

I'll hopefully be putting up a clip at the weekend after I've charged the battery, if it's not completely dead ... haven't started it for about 8 months ... but I assure you you will be impressed by the noise/loudness ... 4-1 system on each side, no balance tube and the only muffler is a little Spiraflow on each side.....

Well from the advice on here, looks like an x pipe based setup. I have new headers which have 3" collectors that will go into 2.5" cut outs then a 2.5" system the rest of the way through, with the pipes going over the axle. Not sure on what mufflers to with, looking at edelbrook ones possibly. need to find an exhaust place nearby that will be able to do the work
