Thanks for the info on Pipercraft in Ilford, will look them up and see if they are about. I know there used to be a place called Top Gear that did powerflow custom exhausts around London too, and there is place in Birmingham that does custom systems too, including X pipes etc.

Ordering some Hedman headers in the morning with 3" collector, 8 week wait tho :shock: but it's cool, i got other things to do before then :)

Those will go into the 2.5" electric cut outs, which will pipe into the x pipe, then not sure about the cat, but into a back box, which is yet to be chosen. Then, don't know weather to have the exit pipe there before the axle, seen it a couple of times looks pretty cool! or route it over the axle.

Good times ahead :) can't wait to put up a vid of however it turns out!!

Hi Ray, you mention "not sure about the cat", is there one on your car? if there is are you keeping it on there??

I think that it's illegal now to have the exhausts exiting in front of the rear tyres. The only time that's allowed is if it came from the factory like that, such as on the side piped 'Vettes

Hey Nige,

There is a cat on there at the moment i beleive, it;s similar in size and shape to the cherry bombs, just a bit smaller, sits right by the down pipes. I'd prefer not to have them though. I read somewhere that apparently exhaust places can't fit you a system without a cat if there is one on there already, not sure if this is for sure in the UK, my guess is that it would make sense for it be logical to have it as a law. Then again, if i'm putting together everything up to an including the back box, and they are only crafting and fitting the rear pipe to go over axle, then this would be ok. Didn't realise there was a law over the exit location, so i'll keep it over the axle then. What do you think about the cat? I would prefer not to have it if i can get away with it :)

I think anything pre 93' doesn't need cats, so whip it off and get headers and a decent system.. small need to breathe you know.. :D

Thanks for the advice! Cats are ditched 8-) Got the headers now!! just need to clean and coat them with high temp paint. Looking into back boxes such as edelbrock, flowmaster 50 series (apparently 40's have a horrible drone, not cool for cruising) so looking up vids on youtube to try and capture their sounds. life can be tuff sometimes ;)

Hi Ray, instead of spraying them with VHT, which always tends to burn off, why don't you get them aluminium coated/sprayed?? It's an ali coating that gets sprayed on as molten metal, it's very durable & protects the headers. I had it done to mine & was very happy with the results. A company called Avanti in Birmingham did them for £45.00 including grit blasting them to get them clean. They also do mail order hth

Little bit dirty in the pics after manhandling them to get them on, but cleaned up fine afterwards.

Here ya go, I've copy/pasted a a post that I'd put on another forum as it has info & their phone number on it. Give Them a call & see what they say, I found them very helpful

No problems with them at all. During the cam run in period they were glowing cherry red. Surprised it didn't melt the aluminium :lol:
