Hi,

On the left hand side of the firewall towards the bottom there is a box bolted on and it's leaking a clear fluid out of the bottom and the fluid is hot.
I'm guessing it's coolant, but if anyone can confirm or point me in the right direction, before i open it up to investigate.

hi if its the box iam thinking of your heater matrix is in there check your floor they normaly leak in there to.

Yes it is dripping from the passanger side floor aswell. I guess it's either a hose or the element?. Is there anything i need to look out for when i remove the box cover?

definately your heater box. Just pull out the 2 hoses going to it. may need to apply some force / leverage and there is a high chance of getting coolant splashed everywhere so cover up areas you want to keep dry! once that is done, unplug the orange wire that goes to the blower, this is located on the left hand side and again, will need some force to get it out. Then undo the 6 nuts on the engine bay side, pull out that panel, you will now see into the back of the matrix. Go into the passenger side and unclip the cable clip that sits on the top middle of the heater box. pull out the heater box, should have to tilt slightly upwards as the heater hose inlets are angled, then you can pull it out completely.

Thanks for that , ive now got the nuts off. But the box seems to be stuck down with some kind of sealent. So will need to break the seal and pull out.

Ah yes, that'll be the silicone / butyl seal to keep the weather out. Scraper and or flathead screwdriver should do the trick. I've scraped the whole lot off the heater and the firewall, using Granville silicone sealant when it goes back on. this will stay flexible and give you a seal. fiver from halfords : http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... Let us know how you get on with the leak. I'm guessing 2 things... there is a blockage build up causing too much pressure so it's leaking at a joint, or there's a crack in the matrix.

That will be my job next weekend to get the box off and see where the leak is comming from, will post my findings.

hi if its a matrix you need they are for sale on ebay and i think its chevy motors selling them.

Removed the heater box yesterday and it's the Heater core which is leaking. So will contact Chevy Motors about a replacement.
