Have you tried event tyres? I've used them before and had Kumho's off them for the 16" wheels. Just had a look and they do 4 different tyres but decent ones (conti) are £157!

did you see the camaro rims on ebay, 150 for the set of 16". dont know if the tires are a little narrower than what you want , but worth a look.

I tried Event tyres, only had Toyos at silly money, no others on offer even.

The wheels on Ebay werent for me although to be fair they would have got me out of a hole.

Ive saved rubber these las few days as the car slid down the drive and parked itself broadside so ill need about 20 shunts to move it and no snow as it has no grip at all. Anyone else use one for a daily driver?

So im going to get some TOYOS at £129 for 245 55 16 and see how we get on, if anyone knows of a better deal id appreciate a nod

Many thanks to all, Ben.

only thing I would say is alloys with part worns, I just got another set of 4 M3 alloys with conti sports with 6mm tread on for a bit less than 4 tires at that price for toyos

although i presume your getting the toyos from camskill, why no just get a smaller profile 245/45 r16? at 100 a corner?

Hi, I don´t know if you have already got your tyres but these wheels and tyres look real nice if you can get them for a reasonable price. :)

Not to derail this thread but on a linked note; I think I may be going down from 18s to maybe 17s just so I can get some decent sidewall. with stock 16s there is a 4.8 inch sidewall but with 18s this will decrease to 3.9 whilst keeping the same rolling radius. With the last bout of wintry weather, the road surfaces are getting really bad and am finding myself weaving to find the decent parts of the roads let alone avoid potholes! The car crashes a lot more esp with the stiffened springs so may end up switching to 17s (with 245/45s, if available) if i can find a decent set. :(

Hi all,
in the end i got a set of Hercules at the right size from Northants tyres, just couldnt mess about any more, not the cheapest but after 50ish miles i have to say theyre a lot better than the Kuhmos i had on.
I find they follow the road less, are quieter and better over bumps, just feel more compliant.
Im not commenting on grip yet as they are so new it would not be accurate but first impressions are good, im consistently driving faster down the lanes without trying to so confidence levels are up for sure.

Having said all this they were all that were available anywhere. Even couldnt buy a profile lower (45) as the load index was wrong.

So as far as im concerned, a result as i wanted decent ride quality for a daily driver.

Many thanks, Ben.

Hi

Just to follow on from this, I fitted all new Hercules tyyres on my Gen 4 and it then did some extended long runs ( 3 tankfulls) and it was great with no tramlining and good mpg. Grip seemed as good as my daily commuter. All looking good for my France trip.
