Thanks for the reply John :)
Unfortunately, I stay in Aberdeen, Scotland, so a little bit too far.
I've already scanned the car and there are no fault codes stored.
I use a laptop running PCMScan software with a generic OBDII cable, works pretty well, except this time!!

I'm good with IT but not up to much on engines etc.

I took the car out for a spin and ran a diagnostic while it was running, would this log file be any good?

Regards

DS

I'll have a chat with a local specialist tomorrow to see if between us we could sort it out from the data you collected.

Can you send me the log?

regards
John

shame you had no luck.

what to do?? I could have a look at the log if you want (assume I can download the software??) If not what parameters did you log? Do the MAP, MAF, TEMP, SPARK, KR seem sensible for driving? Or is something a miss ECU wise?

Did you have the plugs checked yet?

I presume the car still feels to have less power and is sluggish?

Hey guys, Ok where do I start???

Car came back from the garage yesterday, they had no idea what was the problem!!!
They don’t have the expensive specialised kit that is required apparently!!

I now have two choices, take it to a specialist electrical garage at £80 per hour, with no guarantee that they will find the problem, or, replace the spark plugs, leads and ignition coils.
At approx. £210.00 all in for the lot, it may be better to just replace the lot with new stuff.
What do ya reckon??

Regards

DS
Did they not check the plugs and leads?

Hi Mark,

No they didn't, not sure why!!
I didn't want to push it either as they are about the only garage in my area that will do work on the car (and they are very close to where I live, bonus).
You guys are very lucky down south :)

Regards
DS

The guys down south do have some places, there is only one or 2 specialists up my way but still do everything myself.

Shame I couldn't find anything in the log, all looked ok, but still wondering why fuel trims were pulling so much fuel. I do think the plugs REALLY need checking, so you might have to bit the bullet and get them out (can be as bad as my V8 was !!!! ;) ) Anyways, if a plug has gone there is unburned fuel getting pumped out, O2 reading a bit richer so pulling fuel, running lean and hesitant, and way lumpy if your down on 5 cylinders. A set of plugs should only be £16, mine were £2 each cyl for mine

Hey MaudyZ28,

Thanx for the info and really appreciate all your time and help on this.

Yes, you're right, the plugs come in at about a couple of quid each, so I think I'll play safe and get the leads changed out as well.
Who knows, these could be the originals still in there, so could probably do with changing out anyway.

I'll let you know how it goes, fingers crossed.
Thanx again.

Regards

DS

yeah good plan, just make sure you dont get ripped off, its an easy enough job just time consuming so might be nice to have a try yourself??

good luck
