If you want to start a "nonesense" thread, then please feel free to do so in the general area.

The rules are pretty relaxed here, keep it clean, keep it legal. That'll do!

I couldn't find a Camaro club a few years ago so ended up joining the Corvette Club but they weren't too interested in non corvette members so let my membership lap this year as I found this club. (Turning up at their show I didn't get the same discount as I didn't have a corvette which was annoying - I told them the engine was the same...)

One of the main reasons for joining is that the Insurance companies always ask when quoting if you are a member of a club. The first year I had to prove membership but on renewing I haven't. I don't now how I could prove being a member of this club if they now asked, apart from screen prints.

Just as a mention I would be happy to pay a fee to join just for a card that prove I was a member for that purpose.

I believe I found this club as it was in the back of Classic American and was keen to join.

When going to car shows (like American/Corvette Show) I would be happy to fly a flag of the club if there was one to purchase if that helps (I have a large Z28 flag that I fly at present).

Is there another rival Camaro website in the UK I wonder ? I see more Camaros around than I do Firebirds and the POC website is always fairly lively (although run by an ever increasing PC brigade these days).

If there are any good mechanics on here (with time to spare) that can post up "how-to's" for general servicing then that would be awesome.
I'm not aware of any rival Camaro clubs, as far as I'm aware this is the only one. The problem as I see it is that this "Camaro club" has been pretty dormant for quite some time & any initial interest by potential "members" would have waned due to a lack of activity. I s'pose the more threads we post, then if more people do look in, then it'll attract more people to want to post & join in.

I could never understand how clubs like the Mustang Owners club, Classic Mustang club, Mopar Muscle Association & the Pontiac club have thrived & the poor old Camaro has little interest shown. It can't be due to a lack of Camaro owners, it can only be down to a lack of somewhere for them to communicate with each other. Hopefully this site will blossom into that place, who knows, but I guess it's up to us to make it happen ;) For this site to develop it has to be well publicized in the media & by word of mouth, hence my posts on this thread earlier. You can bet that just like me, there are a lot of Camaro owners out there that don't know this place exists, I just found it by accident

Good idea about the mechanics posting up how to's. I've owned a bodyshop specialising in the restoration of top end exotica, American cars & classics for just on 30 years, so i can help with any bodywork queries if needs be. ;) Cheers...........Nige

I have asked Tim to take a look at these posts and decide the future direction of the Camaro Club.

I think there used to be a membership club, which died. Tim asked to me to put up a website and I added a forum, and here you all are!

I guess he needs to decide whether to take it on, or pass it on for someone to drive forward, as there does seem to be a genuine interest, and if over 50 of you have found us by accident, its got to be worth persuing.

ps I don't even have a Camaro any more, I sold it last year, but I am still happy to run the site if you guys are happy with a non-camaro owner?

The POC has been going a long time and it takes alot of work to run a club it would be good to have a large camaro club in the UK as there are so many, I work quite closley with the POC and i know its new head team is putting alot of work into it to get it back up to scratch

I'm happy enough for you to carry on at least your hearts in the right place owning a Pontiac & it's almost a Camaro   .

When would you know what Tims intentions are? Cheers .......Nige

I've just posted up a few thread starters to see if we can generate some interest to get people posting on here. They're very basic questions to allow anyone to join in. Hopefully others will follow my lead & post up further questions & thread starters. Once people start using the forum then they will look in regularly to see what's new.

I just hope people don't think I'm trying to muscle in & take over here by posting a load of threads, nothing could be further from the truth, I genuinely would like to see this "club/forum/web site" develop to its full potential ;) Cheers........Nige

nige, I really aprreciate all of your enthusiasm, it is people like you who will ultimately make this thing work. Please keep your energy and enthusiasm going!!!!

I know Tim has just arrived back from SA and is off to Andorra next, so not sure when he'll get back to me about his thoughts on taking the Camaro Club forward. I guess as Tim has been involved in the Camaro Club for many years he deserves his say, but ultimately, its what you guys want that will make the club as success.

At least we have a place to start with a forum, you are all free to share your views, your love of the Camaro and other cars, you can ask for help, give advice, sell, buy etc etc.

the only things left I guess are Membership/benefits and meeting up?

By the way, this might not go down too well but I think the word "classic" might put some people off from clicking on a link to this site.

This site does cater for all Camaros, not just the classic ones so it might mislead some people. When I was looking for a Camaro forum I joined here but continued to try and find other sites that would be more fitting. I wanted to find just the "Camaro Club UK".

Also, if you need any help with the site, you can ask me if you like ? I'm fairly good with technical stuff, I've worked for 12 years as an IT contractor.
