I was curious about what exactly I was getting fuel consumption wise when I nailed my 5th gen, I brimmed the tank, then covered 303km, 265km was a journey I carried out where I averaged 95, the rest were at my 'normal' driving speeds-

303km and used 47 litres

Thats 18mpg or 15.5L/100km I am amazed, I know its very tall geared with 6th pulling a smidge over 2000rpm at 150kmh but I never thought it'd be that good for the engine size

Not that I care TBH.....I really was just curious

Did a similar check with mine & it returned 14 mpg cruising at 70mph. Not too bad considering the state of tune of the engine & the fact it's only running a 4 speed Muncie with 3.40 gears.

cheers...Nige

My manual 305 3rd gen with a 600cfm holley always hovers around 18mpg. If it used any less I'd just use the money saved to by shiney new bits for it :D.

Took the RS up to Basingstoke, up the A303. Worked out to be about 25.5 mpg, which ain't bad considering you're having to go between 40-60 most of the way.
