What parts would you use & what would you expect from the end result??

Build as opposed to buy..

Well I'd probably build race cars of a vintage persuasion, much likei do now except for myself!

I'd start with a Frazer Nash something like this


Then a Morgan Super aero like this!



I'd buy a V600 Aston Martin V8 and a DB4 and a Vintage Lagonda and a 67 Camaro RS/SS a Riva Aquarama and a 'Vanishing Point' Hemi Challenger and a Ferrari GT250 SWB but you did ask what I'd build not buy....
