Hi All

I'm a new user never been on anything like this before

I have a 1987 Z28 IROC-Z. Have been told it was a pace car at silverstone, don't know how true that is. Will upload photos soon.

I have a bit of a thumping noise comming from the engine bay when I put my foot down from a stand still.was thinking it might be the engine mounts, or something to do with the trany. Wondering if anyone else has this problem and any soultions.

Thanks

Hello & welcome.. I used to a have an 86' Iroc, they're great cars..

The 'thumping' could be anything really, mine was prone to breaking gearbox mounts, I replaced it 2 or 3 times in 7 years.. Engine mounts is unlikely, but could be the exhaust banging stuff underneath, or a loose anciliary.. ???

Could be trans mount, or headers if fitted, If engine mounts have gone that bad to have dropped the engine so something is close to hitting the engine should look crooked.

Hi there,

I don't suppose the registration ends in 'NBP' by any chance?

As in, "is it the red one on eBay at the moment?" ;)

I'm watching it. I'm tempted!

Hi thank you for the warm welcome.

Thank you for you suggestions on my problem. Will look into them. Will post what I find.

Yes it does end in NBP I picked it up on Thursday, it's a nice car. How long ago did you own it. Is it true about being a pace car at silverstone. Is there any part of the car i should watch.

Thanks

Hey,

I bought it back in March 2008 had it for around 18 months. It was a solid car and I did about 1000 miles in France last August, very dependable. I'd be interested to see if it had any of the paintwork tidied up because the garage I part exchanged it at said they would.

To be honest I haven't a clue where the thing about silverstone came from, I never knew about that and the guy I bought it from didn't mention it. I can only assume there is something in the history that I missed. I sold the car with a big bunch of invoices and receipts, I hope that was all still with the car? :?

Hey

Yes it came with a load of paper work.working my way through it.I can't belive it still has the importing documentation with it. It sounds like you had some good fun with it. It's awesome to have some history about the car.

The paint work has been cleaned up I did notice there was a bit of paint in one of the head light compartments.

The guy that had it before me only owned it for a few months he got to many speeding fines . At first I was a but worried about the fact that he only had it a few months was wondering if there was something majorly wrong with it. But after seeing it and taking it for a spin the worring went away.

Welcome! I saw this car listed too, has to have been one of the worst ads I'd ever seen though. Guy sounded like a complete arse.
