The outer roof skin had rusted so badly that you could virtually pass your hand between the inner & outer skins. The rust was cut out totally, new metal formed & tacked into place. Once happy that it all fitted correctly, it was continuously seam welded & finally lead loaded where nescessary prior it it being primed..
Hi Nige,
Just working on the same part of my camaro at the moment, my question was regarding how you treated the metal sill that runs vertically. From your pics you had rust holes too, but i'd like to know if you cut out pretty much the whole part of the vertical running metal, then placed new sheet metal flush against it and butt welded that, or did you treat the rust, then place new metal over that?
Hope my description makes sense
Cheers!
Ray
