Unfortunately, I can relate to that. Many years ago I went to pick up a Mustang for my friend. The car was in Starsky & Hutch colours, as it was popular on TV at the time. Long story short, we went to visit his friend at work at around 9pm to show him the new car. As we left it was dark & the pubs were starting to spill out onto the streets. I came to the T junction at the end of the street & my mate asked me to give it some stick to impress his mate, sure enough I stomped on the gas pedal & hung a right & then changed into 2nd gear. In doing so I put the car at 90 deg spin pointing to the pavement in the middle of a 4 lane carriageway in a huge cloud of smoke. The car was an auto & my '69 Firebird was a manual. Yep, you guessed I put my foot on the brake to change gear thinking I was dipping the clutch as I would in my car. Realising what I'd done I made a hasty U turn & left the scene of the crime with squeeling tyres & loads of smoke. I bet the piss heads thought that Starsky had come to town, as it was just like one of his famous tyre squeeling power stops. DOH!!!
cheers....Nige
