Well, that is indeed a Stingray, but it's full name is Corvette Stingray & ran in production from '63 (car model shown) to '67. The '63 in the video is a one year only car as it had a split rear screen.
In hindsight I could now be very rich, as I was offered a '63 split rear screen Corvette Singray for £2000.00 back in '79. I had, what I thought was a nice '69 Firebird at the time & didn't want to sell it to buy the Stingray. The owner of the car was killed in a light plane crash & the car was stored in his garage for years. It was eventually bought by a Corvette specialist & restored.
During the restoration it transpires that the car was found to be a pre production model, from which all of the tooling for the production cars was to be taken from. It also turns out it was the '63 Stingray that was brought over by GM for the Earls Court Motor Show. To say that that car was extremely rare is an understatement & would no doubt now sell for mega, mega bucks if it was returned to the US of A. If only I'd known at the time what it was, to me it was just a scruffy looking Vette
.To think I could have had it for a couple of grand
, cheers.....Nige
