Due to a previous owner fitting a B&M Megashifter and hacking the centre console to bits, I’m looking to replace the black centre console in my 1973 Z28.

Can order from the US but not sure if anyone knows someone breaking a 1970-1973 second generation? Can attach a photo if needed...

As far as I know, there were 2 variations on the console - 70-72 and 73-81.

I don't know if the early ones will fit later cars or not.

From what I've read, you are better off trying to get a good original unit if you can, rather then the repro ones, as they don't have the same reinforcement.

I think I still have one, but the front sides were cut out for speakers. If you're interested I can have a look for it and take some photos.

Even if the speakers were still in place, it would look better than the one in the car. If not, I could always install cheap speakers as I don't have the radio on. Presume the one you have is Black?

Pictures would be great.

Don't suppose you have a radiator/support bar/brace in chrome or a pair of Black ones?? O/S/F

Thanks Jamie...

Here's some pics of my spare console. Apart from the speaker cutouts, it's in really good condition. No cracks in the plastic, no cigarette burns. It was a light blue, but has been painted/dyed black. There's a few spots where the top layer has worn down, but these may get hidden by the seats.

I do have another which is original black and not cut, but the inner plastics have cracked and could do with repairs. (No pics yet - let me know if you want some.)

As for fender supports, I have 2 chrome and 1 black (which I can't find at the moment)

The chrome is pitted. It will polish up quite well, but will return if not looked after regularly, so aren't show pieces. They are original Moroso ones. If I do sell them I'd rather them go as a pair (especially as I don't know where the black one is and don't know what side it is - I don't want to end up with 2 of the same side!) I'm planning a home built version similar to DSE ones.

Also, if you're interested in something a bit different, I have a 4th gen firebird console. Not a direct fit, but I'm lead to believe it's not too hard to make it fit.

Thanks Jamie, do you have pics of the other black centre console as I think the painted one probably needs too much work? How much work will the black one need and how much are you asking for it? Thanks also for the other console option...

How much do you want for the fender supports in chrome?

No worries on the pics, in no rush as need to find a Megashifter console kit for my '73. Looks like I need to buy a full kit instead of just the spares but might contact a B&M supplier.

Are you going to the Ace Cafe on the 28th April as I can collect from you? If not, if they come with a good clean and polish, £25 sounds about right or £20 cash on collection at Ace Cafe?
