When using indicators in day time np but when using indicators at night with head lights on indicators stay on for about 15 seconds before turnig off for 15 seconds then back on for 15 seconds.
Any ideas guys?

Earthing problem ??? not uncommon on these old cars..

Cheers fitted new cable at back of engine and cleaned earth cables at headlight working ok now but still a little slow. Ps whats the ride hiegt from road to top of wheel archs front and back car is sit up and beg at the moment

I've know idea what's standard, mine's very lowered so no point in measuring

You read all over the place that when you switch traditional bulbs for LEDs and don't change the blinker relays, they flash very quickly due to the much lower resistance in the bulbs.
It sounds like you've got the opposite problem, where there is an increased resistance when the headlights are on, which is slowing down the blinker relay.

I can't remember the full circuit right now, but the headlight circuit is linked to the marker lights on the front sides. (Actually, it might not be the main headlight circuit, but may be the sidelight one - try testing the indicators with only side lights on) The side marker lights are on with the headlights and alternate on and off with the front indicators.

There are a few things that I would look at would be:

Swap bulbs - it's possible you have a dodgy one
Headlight switch - can be got cheaply and replaced relatively easily
Add relays in to control the headlights - puts the power through new wires/relays, rather than the old wiring/switches. You should gain a bit of brightness doing this too.
Dip/High beam switch - I doubt it's this, but it's in the circuit, so may need to be considered.
Wiring - Check/replace the wiring from the switch to each of the bulbs.

p.s. my car is currently 2 foot in the air, with no front suspension and the rear axle on the floor - so I can't help with ride heights either

Thanks guys for the info, indicators now working fine after cleaning all the earth connections.
Found out what the ride height should be, the Chevrolet service manual gives several reference points on the car to measure Z,D,J,K, plus depends on what tyres are fitted too. Looks like the car is supposed to sit very slightly nose high by 1/2 inch.
