Took delivery of my Z28 on Wednesday (yesterday) its a thing of beauty! Needs a little bit of TLC in places i.e rubbers on doors, set of plug leads and plugs. Must say Im a bit disappointed that this forum appears to be a ghost town compared with others Ive been a member of. Loads of questions and no one to ask. Is there somewhere else that everyones hiding??

Tell me about, occasionally I see the odd tumbleweed ;) nastyz28.com is where some of them are.

...but welcome to you anyway, and congratulations on purchasing the car! Ask away :)

Hi and welcome - a good choice of car :)

It can be a bit quiet on here, but Camaro owners (pre-4th gen anyway) are getting fewer in the UK as more and more get scrapped. Thankfully those of us that are left are pretty knowledgeable, and you'll always get some replies to your questions.

Rockauto is good for smaller parts, just be aware you may get some unexpected bills from the UK courier when it arrives. Try and select the options that show you paying taxes upfront and avoid the Economy delivery method that ends up with Parcel Force.

There's some other good suppliers - check NPD, Classic Industries, Summit Racing and JEGS to name a few. For bigger orders or bulky items, look at STS Imports who can save you a fortune in shipping costs - provided you don't mind waiting a few months for sea delivery.

For door rubbers, the latest I've heard is to try and look for ones that have metal inserts in the ends, to help with the fit.

For plug wires I've always bought sets that you have to cut to fit and fit the ends on yourself. I guess it depends on how handy you are and whether you are replacing standard ones, or looking for a more custom look, i.e. specific colour or different routing to standard. Do you have headers or stock exhaust manifolds? Any after market plug wire holders?

For spark plugs I would definitely look at RockAuto - looking for the warehouse clearance deals they do. I've seen plugs selling for pennies in the past. - Don't forget to look for a recent RockAuto discount code - there is always a code around that gives you 5% off.

Any other questions - just ask.

BTW - photos are requried ;)

Hello and welcome.

Yes it is very quiet on here, but I think that is a reflection of just how few classic Camaro's are in the UK. Go to most car shows and you will see dozens of Mustangs but very few Camaros.

For a single model forum I think we do pretty well :)

Congrats on the new purchase! Any pics of it yet?

Yes, as has been mentioned it does get quiet here. At a guess there are probably only a few hundred Camaro's in the UK, maybe just tipping 1,000 divided by 6 gens and not all owners are part of a club, and some of those that are part of a club, will be part of something like a V8 club, or NHRA or something else, so it ends up filtering out a lot of owners from this forum.

Then there's the viscous cycle of people seeing not a lot of posts / not getting answers, then go to other forums and never come back. If looking at the number of Members who have joined and left from it being too quiet, if they stayed there would be a lot more activity. We keep trying though :) Hopefully a few more folks will stick around.

Where possible, a photo sharing service can be used such as Flickr, Imgur etc. The image location (usually ending in .jpg) can be copy and pasted between the ][ brackets that appear when you click the 'Img' button (you can find this button at the top of the message box).

How to post youtube vids: Click on the 'youtubeHD' button at the top of the message box and in the middle of the ][ brackets that just appeared, copy and paste everything from the youtube web address that appears after the = sign i.e if this is the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2cNqaPSHv0 just copy "K2cNqaPSHv0").

I bought Metro Weatherstrips https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.ph ... 5346&jsn=8, yes I know they're not door rubbers but I believe Metro may produce a repop part. I chose Metro since they received a few decent reviews, though I'm still yet to install them.

I bought em' around the time I got the Camaro, I was new to this scene and didn't know of any importers (I wished I had at the time) I would advise STS imports or someone local to you rather than having parts shipped directly from the U.S. retailer, shipping costs and import duty is FAR more expensive that way.
