We have had an eco warrior/vegetarian moved in near us, when I told him we brought the car because it was environmentally unfriendly he glared at me, if looks could kill :)

Okay, so the headlight isn't a sealed unit, I'm guessing it's been changed, there's a small bulb inside the headlight that isn't working. So is have some people changed out the stock units for different ones or has the previous owned done yet another bodge up job?

A lot of people upgrade the headlights to non sealed on 2nd and 3rd gens (I imagine the same for 1st gens too) as it means they can run halogen bulbs which are noticably brighter (and the bulbs are easy to replace as you can find them anywhere, even Tesco!). These units usually also include the extra sidelight bulb which helps when converting to UK MOT spec.

My 3rd gen had halogen units and they were great, same visibility as a modern car. I made a post a while ago with some options for 3rd gen headlights. Hella make 1 with sidelight and 1 without. I got the ones with sidelight, as it makes bulb placement and wiring for the MOT a lot easier.

Flew through it's MOT with no advisories :clap:

Got it home and notices some b*****d has broken the headlamp switch :evil:

Someone has snapped the plastic nut that connects to the switch so I've got to find one and fit it, that looks like a nice little job that isn't at all fiddly :x

Naturally both the garage that did the work and then took it for it's MOT and the MOT testing station blame each other so I've to get it done myself

That's great news well done! Bet you're happy and less stressed :)

Sorry to hear about the light switch, that's annoying and rather unprofessional of them to be playing that game. They should be an adult and own up, most likely you just want the money to replace it, which won't cost much (especially the amount you've probably spent with them, would be trivial).

Give Rocky a shout (Rich at American Technique). He always has parts for 3rd gens and I'm sure he'll have one on the shelf. He's in Watford (not sure where you are) so you could always pick up if local enough.

Yup really happy, first car in years that didn't have at least one advisory that had no real impact on the car, I was waiting for it to fail because the car mats aren't stock and don't fit right, still time for them to bring that one in LOL.

I've just PM'ed him, see if he can help out, I'm up in Cumbria so it's going to have to be posted, its the plastic nut thingy, I've managed to get a look inside so the damage isn't as bad as I thought though getting my sausage fingers in to sort it might be a pig, no one owns up to anything these days, it just means I don't use them again, I'm running out of places to use now though!

305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.

Try changing the whole switch....fiddly doesn´t come near to describing the finger busting experience.

That really fills me with confidence 3rdGenMalc lol! It's our daily driver and I'm having to take the earth lead off till we go out in it as the complete drivers side lights stay on, got to find a way to knock them off (pull a fuse or something) so I don't have to keel doing that.

The MOT rules and how they are done by testing stations is a mystery, still it's a money-maker for someone I suppose

Part 60 on the illustration is what you're fiddling with.
Dash top off, left speaker out with it's support, then it's do
the best you can.
Got porky fingers like me....it's a battle, drop the switch and it's gone...
could be forever.
