After a few Xmas delays, I got the car back from Robin at Autopontiac a few days ago, who sorted a few suspension alignment niggles and fitted a couple of bits Flak Monkey didn't have at the time. Steers great and turns in really well now..
Still gots of little odd jobs to do, like: get bonnet to fit lower, make a headliner, fit the visors, fit an interior light, find some dash rattles, finish the interior door panels better, fit a rev counter (drives me nuts not having one), insulate and carpet under the bonnet and boot floor, fit subframe connects and modify G braces to fit.

Whilst the paint is fairly new, and not even polished up yet, there's a few bits that need re-doing where it was a home spray job, like the doors are a bit wave, and there's a few surface rust bits coming through already, and some chips around door openings. Don't think it'll need a full respray, just doors and touch ups maybe. Might weight a few months and get these all sorted. Still pondering stripes...

The paint doesn't look too bad, is it direct gloss? Is it really necessary to fit insulation? Some of the wonderful exhaust note acoustics will be lost

It's great 10 ft paint, but the doors are a bit rippling, and could do with a few bits redoing. I'm no perfectionist but it'd seem silly not to try and keep it good at this point.

Last car had virtually no insulation as became a bit more track orientated, but I ended up resenting using it in the road too much as it was tiring. This one's hopefully a bit more road happy but with all the benefits of the good handing and performance of the last car.

Quick update as done a bit more mileage now...

The car drives fantastically, hits 3 figures very easily and is rock solid at speed and handles nearly as well as the old pink car, balance is different somehow, I guess because it's a bit heavier.... I might have a play with the rear sway bar as it's adjustable to see if it helps..
Brakes are superb, new Hawks pads on front finally worn all the corrosion off the discs from 18 months of sitting, and rear disc kit works really well..
Drove nearly 400 miles since Sunday and it doesn't overheat, leak, or misbehave... !!!

Still lots of things to sort, I've added some insulation under the bonnet, and roof, and carpeted the boot (with an old crappy offcut), stuck some sticky pads at strategic places in the dash t stop some rattles, but I may well re-assemble it with foam strips to cure it properly...
Still need to swap to the new rear tyres to stop the rubbing on the arches as they really are a bit big now..
Need to make a headlining, and finish some other interior dash bits.
Need as Rev counter as really missing one, so any advice offered is good, as never fitted one.
Paint will have to wait, as it really needs a proper job to get rid of a few bubbles, and the many chips and bits...
Would like to fit the G bars back, and want subframe connectors so that's the next big jobs..
Some under bonnet tidying maybe and a bit of Hi temp paint here and there too...
