It's a great product that :)

Ye i think it may be running rich, as once it fires, it idles, whereas it should require holding of revs (has no choke - it's an edelbrock carb without the electric choke) for a few seconds at least. I can put it straight into gear, foot off pedal the whole time and it'll drop the rpm's and move. It should really cut out if put straight into drive after a cold start. I remember my old jeep needed to have the choke pulled for about a minute or so, even longer in winter. Same with an old Renault 5 we had, even after getting to the bottom of the road, if the choke was pushed in the engine would cut out at a stop.

Have watched a few vids by edelbrock on how to adjust the idle speed etc. so will try it out with vacuum gauge attached and see how it works out.

Nice vid find....

Mine just needed carb readjustment,
it was very very rich.
With the choke on it was only getting fuel.
Forget that....it´s playing up again.
Off to find auto choke adjustment info...... :x :x :x

What's happening, is the choke being intermittent?

It seems to be closing too tight, the choke housing needs to be rotated anticlockwise.......when I get time.... :lolno:

That sounds like an easy enough fix! I saw a video from Edelbrock the other day about adjusting the chokes and they showed a credit card being used as a spacer to set the distance so that it was letting enough air through. I'll dig up the video if you like?

May not be the same issue for you, but one time when I had problems with an auto choke, it was dry joints that were sticking and interferring with the movement. Clean up all the moving linkages and apply a small amount of grease to lubricate.
