Been a bit quiet here recently, how's everyone doing? Anything interesting happening car/life wise? Any winter plans for the Camaro's?

Well I have still been driving my Camaro at the weekend if he weather is OK. Now done over 4000 miles since March!

There are a few things that need doing. My suspension is almost non existent! I think my dampers have seen better days so if I can afford it I will try get them replaced.

Would also love to put some original Z28 decals on it, but cannot decide which colour to go for!

Quiet as I've been working 14 hours a day for the past 3 months....

Car will be getting a spruce up and a few minor tweaks over the winter. Discovered the poxy door seals still leak, I replaced them not so long ago, drives me nuts.

Most major change will be a new camshaft...

Good to hear it's getting such good use! I've done less miles in my daily in the same time frame lol. How are you finding it now that you've put some good miles on it? I think when i checked recently Rockauto worked out about £120 for a set of 4 shocks delivered to the UK. Maybe a good Christmas gift? What are the colour choices for the decals? I quite like the classic yellow and orange combo.

That sounds tiring! Is that because of the changes at work, or the extra projects (like Stu's renovation)? I thought you nailed the doors as you did quite some work to them to get rid of leaks. Do you know whereabouts the leak is coming from? New camshaft? What's the plan, more power?

I absolutely love the Z28. It really is so comfortable yet fun to drive. It is perfectly happy in traffic or on a motorway (other than a wheel wobble I still need to fix and motorway speeds).

It makes me feel great when in drive it, same for my wife and daughter, that's why we use it so much. Car shows, cruises, trips to the coast, popping to be supermarket or shopping centres!

Only flaws are the aforementioned wheel wobble, suspension issues and the fact it leaks water in and oil out! :)

I think I will replace springs on the front too, hoping the rear leaf springs are OK!

There are a few different choices for a 79, but the ones I am considering are;

1. Red and orange
2. Light and dark blue
3. Light and dark grey/silver
4. Gold and brownish

Don't normally like the last of those but my interior is black and tan so might go better.

It was a quietish month, but now getting pretty busy with work again, and now have the blue beastie to tidy up and get nice, as well as getting the pink beastie back from Flak Monkey and strip/sell the good bits off.
Also in the process of buying a new house so that'll happen in next few weeks to just to add to the work, with all that involves, but I will have more car space..

We should all take turns at going out there and taking his Camaro for a run.

I am still going to the Goat (1st Sunday), King & Tinker (3rd Sunday), Ace (last Sat.) and last month I tried out a meet at Hemel Hempstead (2nd Sunday). Couldn't make Hemel this month or the last Ace meet, due to other commitments, but generally get to as many of these meets as poss. Usually meet firebird68 at the Goat, his car is almost finished, looking forward to seeing it.

Mine has developed a vibe when braking, probably a warped disc, feels like the ABS is on when it's not.
What I really want to do is fit bigger 'vette brake discs, but that would require bigger wheels, at least 17s. :shh:

First phase is to convince the wife that my man-maths are valid.
There would also be the problem of where to stash the stock wheels, I already have three spare wheels/tyres + one tyre (they all came with the car) and no garage.

Surely by next spring all those 'almost finished' projects will be on the road................you know who you are!

Mainly the changes at work. Which resulted in Stus car taking longer than planned, and there were S number of small issues along the way. Work has been a bit of a nightmare recently, but I'm just grateful for still having a job at the moment. It's going to continue to be tough for a while yet until things get settled.

My Camaro is making about 520hp at the crank. New cam should get that up a bit closer to 600. The target is to get the MPH up closer to 115 and get times in to the low 11s next year.

Leaking doors are a nightmare :( but at least I painted the floors with some extremely durable paint!
