Hi,

after some time away in the Summer I've been able to get my F1 Z28 started (finally tracing a dodgy conection to the fuel pump). Local garages weren't keen and it was stuck on my drive. I cut a hole out to access the fuel pump rather than dropping the axle etc!

Its SORNed at the mo and I'm just doing what I know needs to be done. This includes rear drop links (the replacements look nothing like the ones on at the momment but I'll let you know how the change goes, don't think my suspension is standard) and a couple of bulbs.

My car came with an MOT but doesn't have white side lights....... I've found a man that might pass me but what have you guys all done?
After the MOT I will change the front number plate for a US style one. No problem getting plates and frames but where can I actually get the covered mounting (ie the bit that fills in the gap between the plate and the bumper.)

I'll need some exhaust guidance next, can anyone post a picture of what the system SHOULD look like underneath so I can see what is non-standard.

Thanks guys

I've had 2 z28s. the first had the slidelights added into the front fog lights. The second has the (European Spec?) replacement indictor lenses, which include a clear part in addition to the amber.

I swapped my headlights for UK mini spec headlights which have a small sidelight bulb mounted in the bottom of the round 7" headlight that shines through a clear section of the glass....
it means not changing anything and mine has been MOT'd for 6 years now. However... i am not sure if you have the 7" round units or not..

The front indicator lenses can be had on eBay quite cheap but I'm not sure about your "white side light" comment. I thought the sidelights were incorporated within the headlamps ? They were on my 2 anyway.

Headlights are the outer two, high beam activates all four front lights. I need white side or parking lights. I couldn't find the clear lenses on ebay for the indicator unit but will have another look.

Mine are Japanese halogens, are these stock?

Thanks

I've imported all kinds of american cars going back to the late 1980's
Long before the days of SVA and all that nonsense

I only once had the issue of amber sides brought up (on an 84 Ford LTD wagon)

The MOT tester managed to get the Mighty Oracle of MOT Test Guidelines, where, in 1994 (cant say for sure about now) that side lights forward facing had to be either White or 'Yellow'........that was the word 'Yellow'

The mot guy said they were Amber LOL ... I cut up an ice-cream tub slid the white Opaque plastic behind the Amber lens and he passed it LOL ----- Of course they were immediately removed! --- Never had a problem with Red Rear Indicators either, but had to do a quick wire-up job to get both brakelights to light when turning.
