You've done an impressive job getting so much done in a relatively short amount of time! I wanted to ask - pink car had a roll cage and SFC's. Does the blue one have SFC's and will there be in a roll cage in there in the future?

Everything was welded solidly into the pink car. Beyond being able to cut it out and salvage the parts in a reasonable amount of time.

The bolted in front g-braces are there and I expect Stu will be fitting those on the blue one after he has given them a coat of paint!

Subframe connectors were welded in so might cut them out to re-use if i get the chance, yes G-braces will get refitted at some point I hope..
Roll cage was never gonna be used in blue one, I toyed with idea of basic hoop, but really wanted to keep this one as more civil and useable road car, which kind of disappeared when the roll cage was fitted..... stiffened the car well, and no doubt helped with crash protection, but made it feel more claustrophobic, harder to get in and out and pretty much rear seats redundant.

I expect the connectors and cage were the main structural part of the solidity of that car in the last year or 2

Ok, so you will have some chassis strengthening in place. Wasn't sure if you were planning on not using at a track days. Ye that's a tough one about rollcages. They certainly have their benefits and definitely make it more safe. Then again,as you say, you lose functionality. A half loop maybe a good idea, if it can get fabricated really close to the interior so as to not be too noticeable. I suppose you'll want to try it out as is, then add the g braces to see the difference, then the SFC's to see the difference etc.

Whilst, I'll probably avoid it initially, it will no doubt see a track at some point...

I was hoping to have this done by the end of the weekend but alas old cars do tend to hold a few surpises.

I got the rear of the driverside sill welded up, the doors assembled with what parts I had and a few other odd jobs. While giving it a going over for it's MOT I found a bit more rust that's going to need dealing with, and the damned parking brake cable broke when I was testing it. So more parts and some more time required. I'll be working on it some more this week and next weekend to get it finished off, MOT'd and on it's way home to Stu as soon as possible...

The only consolation was I put some petrol in the tank, squirted some in the carb and it fired up first turn of the key. Had to tweak the idle speed a bit, bit other than that it's running nice. Oh and theres some air trapped in the cooling system somewhere, but I'll figure that out once its back down on the ground again.
