Ye the Ace Cafe is usually quiet until about Spring, have you been to any other dates there? It's one of the nearest meet places to me so hope to start meeting people from here over there.
The paint is Nexa Autocolour, now owned (for about 7 years or so) by PPG. It's a mid range product and provides warranty so it's not bad per se, it lays down well and gives a nice factory style finish. It seems it's not meant for custom work. It's designed for body shops and pushes for fast output performance i.e. fast dry and handling times, can be oven baked or air dried. So probably when used with 2 light coats it would be ok. I don't thing it's designed for things like full cut and buffing and extra layers. The tech sheet said 2 layers of clear but knowing i would be cutting, laid an extra 2 coats as i knew 1 layer would get sanded off and wanted to ensure there would still be 2 layers on there. I'm still a bit dubious though, as it's not like i laid down 6-8 coats, which i could understand as that would take a long time for the paint to harden. It was painted last summer in temps of about 25c and has had pretty much a full year to cure. The garage gets up to 35c sometimes on a hot sunny day, so it should have had plenty of time to cure.
I wouldn't use it again. I may try something like lechler in future as that has a good reputation in the mid range. Going over to something premium like PPG or Debeer etc. would be way more expensive.
It's a real shame as it looks like glass from about 5 feet but then up close it looks like it's had a rough life which is quite annoying seeing as it's just been freshly painted. Buffing is a pain too - to get rid of the majority of the scratch marks it has to be on a higher speed, but that also produces a lot of heat and starts to undo the flatness brought on by the cutting stages so the paint doesn't look sharp and flat. So you either get rid of the scratches and have a less glass like finish, or keep the glass like finish but have loads of scratches. Even 2 coats of wax didn't do much to help fill in the scratches
