Thanks for the well wishes, seems to be a bit better now as it's less of a hassle to get out of bed, but can't sit for long enough to have a meal. Waiting to get a call from the skeletal / muscular specialist to arrange an mri and see exactly where the issue is located. You're right Malc, i remember you even posted an image about it before, it's the squidgy bit (donut as i picture it) that has bulged out and inflamed, pushing in on the nerves, causing temporary sciatica in my leg. Crazy how fragile our bodies are.

Have been looking at back braces which i think you also mentioned Malc, so i'll see if the specialist recommends one as i plan on still being able to work on the car. Thinking about it, i do get a sore back after doing things in the engine bay i.e. changing spark plugs, sometimes even just washing the car.

Anyway Camaro wise, the last few things on the list were to check the rear suspension bushing bolts torque and try and torque the last of the front upper control arm nuts. I had a bit of a coolant leak where the jubilee clips on the heater matrix weren't tight enough, so tightened them and need to recheck. Need to drive it back and forth a couple of times to make sure the transmission is ok fluid wise too, then re position the steering wheel so that it's straight. Then i think it will be time to get the MOT. Speedfest isn't looking likely, all comes down to waiting out this back issue.

305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
I was given Tramadol, but only took it when absolutely necessary.
They found my disc hernia because I was having sciatica.

I can get under the car but I have to have all the tools I´ll need, multiple ups and downs
are difficult............and my slave ran away..... :thumbdown:

Thank you all for the support! It's much appreciated :) Today has been the first day i've walked around the garden and moved a bit. Got a sore back already so i'm back in bed but i also didn't take an meds today (try and take them as little as possible) so it's kind of a good sign. Haven't been called for an appointment with the specialist yet, they said up to 10 days so i'll chase them up tomorrow and get a fresh doctors note too. Miss being able to work on the car, really hoping to see a specialist next week and be able to get a back brace and finish up the last few jobs to book it in for an MOT. Would really like to meet everyone that's going to SpeedFest :thumbup:

It certainly has been a long recovery, started back full time at work after a phased return. Sorry i missed you all at Speedfest!

Started to work on cut and buffing, small doses at a time to prevent further injury. Not having good luck with the cut n buffing (so nothing has changed). Was getting loads of scratches and couldn't get rid of them, long story short turns out the paint is really soft. It will scuff if you run a cloth over it and even with enough pressure a microfibre cloth will scratch it. So i have to go very soft with the sanding block but it's too late on the doors now as it has many deep scratches. It looks ok from 5 feet away but up close even wax won't help fill the scratches. I think the plan will be to sand the doors with 800 and re-clear, but maybe next year or something, it will be ok for now. For the rest of the car i will just need to be patient and not use much pressure. Got some Bilt Hamber Double Speed Wax to try out, heard quite good review about it. I also bought an autoglym lifeshine kit (the stuff they sell at dealerships for £400) but didn't pay anywhere near that. One of the products in the kit is a sealant so will lay that down, then follow it with wax.

Once that's all sorted, then need to try and figure out how to tighten the upper control arm bolt that sits under the brake cylinder as it's not torqued. Then check torque on rear suspension and see about getting an MOT sorted.

I think getting it done and back together, MOTd amd on the road is the best plan..
Hope the back improves and you can get on with it without struggling. .

I agree, now if only the car would agree too! Seems to have other ideas, as always.

Ye it's a bit of a struggle, i was wet sanding the front bumper yesterday sat on a chair and had quite a sore back in the evening and feeling uncomfortable today, so there's a way to go.

I'm giving the paint one last chance - i'm going very softly with 1,500 on a small durablock and brought a hose into the garage so there's a constant stream of water for lubrication and to wash away and contaminants - if that doesn't get rid of the erroneous scratches then i don't know what else to do. I will be going over with 2,000, 2,500 in the same fashion, then using a different compound from Farecla, that specifically says its for removing 1,500+ scratches. If that doesn't work then i really have no clue and then i can only put it down to over soft paint. Certainly will never use this paint again, has caused me years of issues. Once i finish the front bumper, i will just wax the rest of the car (shell, rear bumper and boot) and then move onto checking the suspension stuff. I'll finish wet sanding when it's cold, i just wanted to do it now and get it out of the way before the paint gets contaminated.

Would like to make Ace Cafe this year before the season is up.
