Ye most places nearby do those vice ones but i've had them before and they're pretty bad. Tube slips easily and the parts break easily too (as i've found out). When i took one back the guy didn't even let me start my sentence he just said "it's broke isn't it". I'd like something that can comfortably do steel and also stainless, for things like fuel lines. This type of thing: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-Expert- ... aring+kits

I may have a possible lead, a guy at a hydraulics place who's a hot rodder. Spoke to him on the phone not long ago and he knew exactly what i meant and the thread sizes etc. He's double checking tonight and will call me tomorrow with a quote, hopefully it's reasonable and then can get that part sorted.

Never thought of that! Good shout! I've managed to get some traction with a1 hydraulics in Leicester, the guy is going to get back with a quote shortly and if price is ok, it will get here before the weekend...

Ray, I can double flare some lines for you, how long do you need? They'd be 8mm (5/16") cunifer pipe.

I will certainly let give you a shout if i need anymore lines, unfortunately i had already had it delivered same day as you posted this. Got one from A1 hydraulics, person there called Guy, is also a hot rodder / American car guy. So straight away knew exactly what i needed.

Fit it today (after bending up the tubing to shape) and appears to be ok after a couple of times running it. Was able to move it for the first time under its own power  So reversed out of the garage, let it sit for a while, no visible leaks collected on the ground. Moved it back in not long ago.

Few things that need attention - need to torque all of the castle nuts on the suspension. Steering wheel isn't straight (took it off and replaced with a grant one but forgot to make it up and lost centre) so will take it off and redo.

Coolant seems to be staying in place, so i will put the rest of the heating together and things like glovebox and passenger seat need to go back.

Then i'll continue with wet sanding which will give me time to mull over any other things i can think of that need attention.

Thanks! It's definitely closer.

Good thing i checked the torque specs - most of the front suspension and steering was finger tight  I took stuff apart and put it back together so many times i thought it would be best to not put everything back perfectly, in case it needed attention again. The only thing i haven't been able to get to is the upper control arm swivel bar ends - the nut closest to the radiator is ok, it's the one under the brake cylinder that's impossible to get to. Think i will need to take the wheel off and try access from the wheel well. Not sure how people are able to tighten this one. Struggled with a couple of the nuts that hold in the upper control arm to the frame too - was able to use a torque wrench on 2, the other 2 i couldn't get to because of the headers on one side, and the steering column on the other. Was able to get a large spanner on and gave it all i could.

Also mounted the transmission plastic cover, couldn't get it to fit around the started, which is odd as the starter will fit manual and auto, so it has the smaller nose. It's fitted solid so won't go anywhere. The plastic casing therefore is about 1cm away from the header, so will need to keep an eye on this.

Need to double check the rear suspension torque next. Didn't get a chance to to sort out the steering wheel alignment. Not too happy with the wheels as the passenger side seems to point slightly to the right whilst the left one points directly forward. Haven't changed the steering stuff out, so should be as it was and remember it tracking straight. Will find out soon if it's an issue.

Will also need to refit the interior passenger side bits this weeks as i ran out of time yesterday.

So things have have come to a halt. A couple of years ago i mentioned back pain and the mention of a slipped disc came up. Have been ok since then. If your suggestion back then was a slipped disc then you win a prize! In short, at the end of last week i passed out from back pain while going for a pee in the middle of the night and had to have paramedics stretcher me to a&e (took 2 hours and lots of pain killers to get me to stand up). I've been signed off work, not able to drive or sit up for more than 5 minutes. Had to cancel my holiday plans for next which would have involved driving up to Manchester to see friends from the U.S. I was going to spend the 2nd half of the week that was booked off, finalising the Camaro and getting its MOT done, so that plan is out the window. Have to go for an MRI and physio, waiting for an appointment to be arranged see a back specialist first. I'm confined to laying in bed for the next few weeks. Look after yourselves

Car Details:1986 Camaro, bought into Spain by me in 1993.
305 replaced by a 355, 750 Demon carb, RPM AirGap intake, Brodix heads, Hedman Hedders, 3" Flowmaster exhaust.
Wheels are Summit aluminium 5 spokes, tyres are 245 rear 225 front BF Goodrich.
B/M transmission, battery relocated to the rear, GoodMark 4" cowl steel hood.
Location:Spain East Coast
Slipped is not exactly the right term, the disc actually bulges and can be caused by the simplest of things, sitting at the computer and leaning forward can do it.

I have one and was told it would settle down in about three months, and it did.
Causes me to get lower back pain and I do watch out.

I can´t remember exactly the number it was five or eight herniated discs that my father got after his truck rolled and he went out the door.
Sometimes he´d lock up and as I just got my driving licence it was me who took him to the doctor,
how ever bad it was it did´nt stop him nagging my driving.

I wish you good luck and hope you get better soon.
