Well, I finally drove Evilzee for the first time yesterday, & it certainly exceeded my high expectations. The car has been with my good friend Martin, who's been doing the mechanical side of things for me like building the engine, setting up the suspension, wiring etc etc. Martin circuit races a '70 Mustang Boss 302 clone in HSCC race series. My outline to him was that I wanted my '69 to handle as well as his Mustang & to perform at least on an equal footing to his car. ie to make it a street legal circuit racer like his
. His Mustang is very competitive in its class & can also run 12.80's @ 113.69 mph at the drags in full street trim, through the mufflers & with road tyres. With traction/slicks that set up would put his car into the 11's.
He took my car for an MOT on Tuesday & said that even in its untuned state it appears to be a fair bit more powerful than his racer. I took it out for a quick run yesterday & it does everything I expected & more
It drives very well & feels quite docile, that is until you stand on it a bit
, at which point the whole world seems to go backwards very quickly indeed
. It seems very remeniscent of my old 10 second '55 Chevy. I don't think it's quite as quick, but it certainly has that "violent temperament" when the power's unleashed. Next stage is to get it tuned & set up to see if we can get a bit more power from it, then, once my back is better, I can get on with finishing the bonnet & get the car finished. I can't wait
,
If anyone needs this type of work doing, just PM me & I'll pass on Martins details for you, I'd highly recommend him, cheers.....Nige
