Hey all, do any of you have problems with ground clearance on your 2nd gen cars?

My exhaust system sits quite low, and my suspension is rather soft. These two facts means I scrape on some speed bumps, and I bottom out easily at speed over bumps or dips.

I am guessing that I will need to replace my exhaust system and suspension at some point to resolve this, but since I cannot afford that right now wanted to hear from your experience!

I used to, then I fitted some decent springs. I run about 4" to my exhaust system now and it doesn't scrape.

Coils front, leafs back?

I definitely need a suspension upgrade, but even with that my exhaust sits low, need that replacing too!

I lowered my third gen and had a B/M deep sump on the trans.....oh that was bad.

The exhaust doesn´t scrape much but the chassis connectors do.

If I reverse into the drive and forward out no scraping.
Forward out has to be slow or I whack the oil pan on the gate rail,
I´ve already put a nasty crease in it.

Drive in forwards or reverse out scrapes.

i would try some new shocks as a first step

if you are getting bounce- it could just be you need new shocks try Konis or Bilsteins

Mine is super low, about 3 inches max from sub frame to road...

I've got 600lb front springs and 175lb rears and Kong shocks set very firm on front, so it doesn't move much, but still catches on speed humps , ramps etc..... mostly the rear of the headers.
MOT time can be interesting.
It's gonna be raised slightly during rebuild with some custom spring spacers.

My 77 sits around 3 in....caught a speed hump last week...luckily I was creeping over it....but grounded on the sump I think..felt the drive line shudder....can't see any damage though..I've got coil fronts leaf rears..dunno the specs though..was done before I got car....trolley jacks are too high to fit too so looks like I'll have to use the factory slider jack then slip the trolley in.

Two jacks for me.....first I lift the side to get clearance then slide my longer jack under the front to the cross member.
At the rear I can get the long jack under the diff from the sides behind the rear tyres.
